I am still waiting for him to send through the engine and vin details.

I cant wait to get it fasted, that will let us know definitively.

He says it has genuine Nismo factory fuel pump, rims?(wtf), engine and everything else nismo.

It certainly doesn't look like it thought, i suspect that it just has all the bolt ons and he is trying to say that its an equivalent Nismo S Tune...

He owns a workshop here in melbourne though so he must know what he is talking about and seems pretty genuine so its hard to tell.

Also he said its pulling 260 awkw, which definitely isnt stock!

Ha!

Yeah Its a genuine Nismo fuel pump from the Nismo Factory but no GTR's were fitted with Nismo fuel pumps from Nissan.

If its the Midnight Purple, it is a bit of a Special colour as not many of them came out... But it best to get the VINS as it could be a respray...

Look at the car the following doesnt add up -

- New front bar

- New bonnet

- New wheels

- New steering wheel

- New radiator

- New pods

- New dash

I would have thought the addition of all these 'new' front end parts pointed to another (possibly more serious) problem

Why would you replace the standard factory airbag steering wheel?.....unless it went off.....which could explain a lot of the new front bits

Good Point purple r32.

I read an article ages ago on SAU about a pre-purchase inspection service which basically uses advanced technology and scans the layers of paint on the car to detect if there has been any structural damage as well. Sounded awesome and i cant believe i didnt bookmark it.

Does anyone have it handy? Cause i searched and cant find it..

Also, just send him another text asking to send through VIN and engine number. So will post here when I find out.

Here is another guy trying to upsell a car:

Note especially the comment around the RAYS Engineering rims... look like drifteks to me...

Considering no shots of the engine bay... also the warranty comment?

I think you just need to do a little research - which is what your doing

Good luck with it!

Cheers

Stateroads is who you're after:

Very thorough pre-purchase inspections.

Thanks laama_au, just sent in a booking request with stateroads. Cheers.

Also just got the engine number and VIN.

The details are:

Engine Number: rb26 s 068838A

VIN: 6U900BCNR33002353

I have posted this in the FASTed thread so someone can check it out for me.

Looks like a front end accident and respray job to me. Look at the shine and freshness in the front end and the old swirl marks on the rear pillar.

Also, they're not standard wheels. They're SSR proffessors. As apposed to genuine Nismo LMGT's.

Check the difference

Just click the pic above......

hmm.

I am getting a pretty negative feel about this car from everyone.

Can anyone tell if the VIN/engine number is a genuine Nismo S Tune?

Also, the rims do look genuine to me, I cant tell the difference.

standard v spec

build 1995 , 02

colour is midnight purple

no mention of s - tune

why would there be? its not an s-tune dude

i would just treat it like a normal GTR

if its a legit S tune then he should be selling it for $40k

clearly its not and he is making up crap to get more $ from you

Sh*t, so was that put nissan FAST?

He says it a series II 1996, and it does have a passenger side airbag so i dont understand how it was a 1995 build?

Is the engine block possibly still a S Tune though?

nissan fast says

1995/02

the build # itself is very low, ie 2353 build # so its very low in the early stages

which is why feb 1995 is believable, if the build number was like 100,000+ then yeah it would be 97/98

but being very low, its likely to be 1995, as per NISSAN fast

so

1) its a 1995, feb build (according to VIN and build plate) - assuming this is the correct plate for the car

2) its a midnight purple GTR

3) its a v spec

4) its not an s tune

5) it doesnt have an s tune block

6) if it has passenger airbag this could be a gotcha - conflicting info suggestions 1995 GTR did not have passenger airbag

-- likely results are dash swap, passenger swap with series 2 GTR, car is a true series 2, or something else swapped

dude it sounds like its too hard to bother with

there should be tons of bog stock GTR R33s for sale

its not worth your time and effort

Dude just giveup on the whole s-tune stuff

You're being taken for a ride... UNLESS thats your car your trying to sell and maybe were led on in the first place? ;)

Alright, so everyone is saying its not an S Tune, thats fine - its just that he is so adamant that the engine is a S Tune since it has the 'S' on the block number. The engine cover looks standard so I think he is full of BS too, or just misinformed.

Whatever the case this is all good info and will help me bargain down the price. I will get the front of the car checked out for previous accidents and he says that he will install the stock steering wheel with airbag. Also it will come with the stock airbox which means it should be defect free.

It has heaps of nismo parts but they seem to be just bolt-ons.

When I get a definitive result from someone who has FASTED the VIN and Engine No I will print this out and show him as proof.(He is just misinformed I assume). This should help give me some bargaining power during negotiations.

p.s at least we know its a genuine V-SPEC and that its colour is a genuine midnight purple.

Hi Paul,

This is great information, thanks.

I will confront him with all of the above.

Lol. I can't believe you're even still interested in bargaining with the seller.

If someone was advertising a car for sale with total BS like this guy is, then he's either a scammer, or clueless, and I wouldn't want to be dealing with either of the 2.

Plenty of GTR's for sale, no need to put effort into what seems very dodgy.

Justin911's for example, Only asking something like 21k, and it's in great condition with a few nice little extras...A great base to start with.

Yes he's a mate of mine, but if I was in the market for a 33 GTR I wouldn't hesitate in buying his.

    • Hey everyone, This is my first post apart of the introduction. I tried searching a bit on the forum but couldn't really get a straight answer. I got the car to my mechanic as I felt it being weak. It seems that it was missing on two cylinders due to the injectors. I had all my injectors clean and the car runs much better. The mechanic also confirmed my suspicions that the cat is clogged and needs to be tackled asap. The cat rattles a bit and the hot exhaust warning frequently lights up when driving after getting the injectors clean. In my introduction I was asked about what modification I might be interested in and mentioned a cat delete. From what I was told, this is not really beneficial on the RB20DE and there are more cons than pros.  Could perhaps anyone give some suggestions on what the best course of action would be since the current cat is toast and needs to be removed/replaced anyway? I can also sometimes smell a strong smell of fuel, but I'm not sure if this is related.
    • Hope the cans went down well at least
    • 255 can't go wrong with the price.
    • When I was replacing my pump due to being stranded in the wrong state, I went with the Deatschwerks 320lph kit. It is a direct plug in to the stock wires, harness, everything. It comes with a plug... but you can plug the OEM plug directly into this thing. https://justjap.com/products/deatschwerks-dw300-fuel-pump-nissan-s13-silvia-r32-r33-r34-skyline-c34-stagea?currency=AUD Downside: Won't actually flow that much on boost if you want to push it on E85, but it's comparable to the 040/255 etc. Little more actually.
    • I dunno what the "best" one is....but when my 040 died late last year, after about 20 years of screaming service....I put in a 255. Like any such thing, you have to finagle it a little bit - it's not a no-brain swap. But it's not hard.
