Hypothetically, If You Lost Your Keys..

Everyone loses their keys, me more so than others.

So i had some spares cut last week, planned on putting one at home and one hidden under the car somewhere. Anyway, didnt quite get around to it.

Left my keys in a cab last night.. cab company has no record of the cab that picked me up. I do live in a small town though, so im in the process of trying to find the guy. (its the only camry taxi around with mags on it)

but anyway, if worst comes to worst i can wire up a new ignition switch and everything, that side doesnt worry me. Its the door locks and remote keyless thats gunna be a pain in the ass if my keys don't turn up.

Anyone else ever lost every key to their car? Can locksmiths do anything?

can't they get the key code off the barrell? Not 100% on this, but I'm sure I've heard it somewhere...

pretty sure racv could get in.

and maybe nissan can do the technical mumbo jumbo to disengage any sercurity that car has allowing it to be reset with a new key and reprogramed ?

Keys arent programmed on 34's, the keyhead just has the electronic keyless entry side of it in there.

First think i did when i got my stag was test that.. checked for frequency output.. nothing there. Got a blank key cut and it started it fine.

crisis diverted. Luckily my mate is on racq today, he came round.. 30 seconds he had the door open.

And in about 3 mins i had the door fab off and the door lock out. Walked into a locksmith with the number stamped on the back of the lock and asked for a few keys.

Bingo.

Which makes me a tad scared about the security of my wagon. Well that thought followed the first initial few thoughts of 'hmm, i know of a few stageas garaged around here' haha.

You can look at it in a good and a bad way.

The good way is that because your car didn't have the transponder in the key head, it was cheap and easy to recover some keys. But the bad way is, your car security sucks and it really is that easy to steal. Believe me, it was my job

If your car did require a transponder key to start, you would've been looking down the barrel of a minimum $350-500 for a set made.

pretty sure it was my first mod, there are factory upgrade alarm type thingo's, that work with you existing keyless entry, but add an imobiliser i think, made by cyclops?

If you have the number Nissan can supply a new key (even for remote locking) - last quote about $300. If you don't have the number you may be able to get it from Nissan but I haven't tried.
