ok after reading, and reading and reading through the lots of catch can threads i still dont have an answer, theres lots of drawn diagrams but some arnt for rb25's (the pcv is different) and some i cant make sense of, i want a 100% plumback setup that doesnt vent into atmo (im blanking off the breather thingy at the top so its legal) this is what ive got so far. if im totally wrong u can use the unmodified pic at the bottom, thanks !

so from most of the photos of ppl setups i made this one myself, is it right or wrong ?

this diagram every1 seems to praise, but i cant make sense of it theres 3-4 lines going to the catch can and ive only got 2 on my can

so ive followed the arrows and came up with this, is this how your supposed to hook it up by following the pic, is this right or wrong ?

and heres a blank pic if any1 has time to show what its supposed to be like

It's easy. The hose to the right after the U shaped bend on top of the head is where you plumb into. This is the one that returns the vapour to the intake.

Plumb the can into this.

If you have troubles and live in the Perth area, let me know.

so i just need to put the can in between that hose going from the RHS rocker cover to the intake piping,

so hose from the RHS rocker cover (fitting facing up) to the can, then the can to the intake piping and leave the pcv valve alone? wont this just be a 50% plumback which collects oil only on boost?

The one on the right is the bastard that lines your intercooler and plumbing with oil. This is the one that matters.

Go atmo man, you dont want oil getting into your intake, you will have to clean all your pipes every year or so. Also increases risk of detonation.

I think where he is he mentioned it being illegal?

I would have thought so long as the vapours being caught it would be ok?

Mines like this:

Works a treat. The PCV has a alloy bung that came with the can, and although the line from the PVC to the manifold LOOKS like its still there, it has a mini bung just under the wires there to keep it looking tidy and factory :D

Same with the Exh. breather --> intake, double ended alloy bung. Want to try get an intake breather to put in the exh. side to tidy it up.

nice RIPS setup, I have a similar one.

hey sorry to bring up a old thread but im still abit confused. bought my 33 not long ago and previous owner had the catch can set up like this http://www.sau.com.au/forums/gallery/image/88065-10743652-10153253866995898-819807154-n/

is this correct? if not whats the best way to set it up?

Well, it's not legal for a start. That filter on the catch can will let the oil vapours out to atmosphere, which is a no-no for a road car.

The diagram at the top of this very thread is a reasonable guide, coupled with the commenst and instructions below it.

Then there's the oil control thread in this very forum.

ohk so ive gotta remove the T from the U shape hose, cut that hose and T it off and one going to the pipe thats blocked with the socket and other going into the intake and block off the pvc hose?

and get rid of the filter on the catch can

This is my setup. (some people don't like it for its aesthetics, but it works fine, and I've yet to encounter any problems with it)

As you can see, I've simply inserted the catch can - more correctly "oil / air seperator" - into the return line from the ex rocker cover down to the turbo intake. The system remains closed to the atmosphere - ie "legal" - and the PCV system still works as designed.
