hey dave i had a leaking seal too and it was from not putting some gasket goo on the front cam cap to seal the 2 little slits in it, the workshop manual doesnt even mention it needs it but its been on every motor ive pulled apart and worked perfect, maybe this isnt it but just thought it was worth a mention.

cant wait to see it out of the track too, i have been keeping a keen eye out for it every meet :P

Thanks for the info - engine dyno'd this week - ust over 1000 hp at 29 lb - plenty left - just the cam seal issue.

yeah. genuine is best. dabs of threebond under the cam caps is a must aswell. you are talking about the camshaft seal? not the valve stem seals?

Front cam shaft seal

The standard seals are excellent and never leak on a good engine.

You must have some other issue.

Point taken - may be i do/

Stupid question i know but sometimes the most simple things can be the cause. Are the seals around the right way?

Not a silly question - but yes they are. Bought some HT Vitons today - should do the trick.

Yeah the vitons will be heaps better if you are suffering from external heat issues, they are alot more heat resitant than the nitrile ones! you could also pull the spring out of the back of them and shorten it a little to put a bit more tension on it if it needs it..
