We installed and tuned a ViPEC for a customer with an R33 just recently. Got rid of the AFM, made a great power increase and the car runs beautifully. You could also go Power FC, although ViPEC is the same price once you add in a Z32 AFM. PM if you need any info

If im not mistaken removing the afm in some states is illegal, also a vipec is not exactly a piggy back.

Could you tell me why i wud go for Nistune over a PFC?

You wouldnt, looked into it for my car, the chips are different and with all the screwing around needed to get it to work it will pretty much cost the same as a pfc.

i cant see where it says r33 rb25det in the equipment section on the NIStune website...

As above.

If you don't already have a z32 afm or electronic boost controller I'd say go the Vipec as it costs $2k or so and it includes boost control and doesn't require an AFM (z32).

PFC is really old tech now although tried and proven but it'd cost you approx. $1500 to get one + z32 ($300) + boost controller ($500 or so installed) so it seems cheaper to get a Vipec.

I am also interested in Nistune for my R34 GTT and I'm not quite sure why you think its more exxy than PFC when it costs < $500 vs $1500 for a PFC. Not sure what the limitations of the Nistune boards are though compared to say a PFC .. anyone?

You really need to do some research, the only thing that may be accurate is the vipec, check the for sale section, pfc $1000-$1200 z32 $100-$200 ebc he already has one, pfc tuners, everywhere, vipec tuners, limited.

And looking at his mods he does not need a z32 or all the extra gadgetry that is on a vipec, not to mention the fact that he didnt even ask for info on a full ecu so you are recommending a $2000 ecu over a $1500 ecu when he asking about a $500 piggy back.

As for the nistune if you actually do your research you will find that the 33 ecu can be done but will cost over $1000 to do it coz it is a headache, other options for a 33 is to use a 32 and rewire the loom, vct will not work with a 32 ecu either, or mod a 300zx ecu and rewire the loom to suit, hence why using nistune on a 33 is not really the great option it is for a 32, and i didnt say it would be more expensive i said it would be about the same price.

hey Brett. I take it you tried Nistune ?? How long ago?

Looking at Nistune's FAQ it says they don't do boards for R33/R34 but then in their product section they've got this "type 4" board for $440 and it says it works with r33/r34 - I'm not too sure what to make of that, maybe it's a new board that works with 33's and 34's ?

I looked into getting it and was priced over $1000 for it at the end of last year, i never looked on the nistune web site just spoke to some ppl here in vic who do it, one of them was status tuning in dandenong the other was a guy in the western suburbs, dr drift i think it was.

Depends which way you go... if you stick with the R33 ECU then adding a EPROM daughterboard to that is about $1000 for an which you can tune with Nistune (using an emulator)

If you use a Z32 ECU with Type 2 board then with minor loom rewiring (see our FAQ) you can drive an R33 RB25 with it

Type 4 boards for RB25DET are for the R34 GTT ECU which use a different (grey) plug to earlier RB25s. This is what I have in mine

I think this could have been my car =]. .Deffinately very good option with the Vi-pec!

This thread is having more non paying plebs advertising go though it than the local hooker.

haha :D

We have the Greddy Emanage Ultimate with universal harness and software for tuning and monitoring in stock and its by far the most popular affordable solution that is very comparable to the Power FC as far as tuning capabilities go out there. It also has the added benefit off having the software included unlike others for much less.

They can be found here in our Trust thread and most generally get away with having the kit installed and tuned for less than units like the Vipec/Link/Autonic units etc by them selves.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Tr...op-t188592.html

And as the unit doesn't replace your standard computers tuning instructions like the remaps listed above in the second post you can simply remove it when you want to sell without having to buy a different computer to replace the stand alone as well as anyone/tuner being able to tune them like the above mentioned.

There are also guides on the forums for self tuning the Emanage kit if you are technically minded.

Many other benefits in this unit can be seen on the forums ;)

Nistune, for rb25,

use a vg30dett 8bit computer $150 or cheaper from any wreckers,

buying nistune board fitting it to ecu $430

repinning few bits on ecu $100

then tuning time on dyno $xxx.

All up around $1000. yew

on the cheap ftw

been quoted $1600 for the vipec v44 standalone i think it was (2nd best one), and $600 to tune it, so $2200 all up, apparently its the bees knees it should do me good for years to come. was looking into a nistune board but my mechanic/tuner dont really have anything to do with em.
