My Feet Getting Hot After Driving My R32 For 20+ Min

hi guys

Just driving home from uni today and realised my feet getting really f*kn hot (My heater/ac was turned off), ive noticed it b4 but never took any action until now. I originally thought that it was heat from the engine travelling through the firewall but its not. The heat is coming from the outlet vents under the dash that heat ur feet when u have ur heater turned onto feet. wtf is this shit, y is it sending out heat when the heater/ac is turned off.

I think this is the reason y r32 dash board vents end up brittle and crack from this constant heat escaping.

If u turn off the unit when its on face the heat comes out of the top dash vents, if u turn it off when it on ur feet the heat comes the feets ducts.

any1 else experiencing this? can it be fixed?

Check inside temp sensor is connected.

It not usually the inside temp sensor it is usually the actuator at the back of the centre cluster (at the bottom on the passenger side) that gives up the ghost & stops reacting to the control signals from the climate system. Almost invariably it is a dry solder joint in there.

If you do a search you will find loads of posts on how to fix it. The downside is you need to remove the stereo etc from the console to get at it. The upside is it costs bugger all to fix.

try turning on the recirculation option on the AC control unit, that will close the vent to the outside and stop the air blowing.

Mine does the same, when the Climate Control is off i get hot air blown down at my feet. really annoying.

i got same prob in my series 2 r33 gtst.....

I dont notice it but people in thongs feel it..... ive gota turn different things on and off in my climate control to see if its the flaps or a hole from the engine bay lol

Hey All,

I actually had the exact same problem in my R34.

I found that all the cabling was connected correctly and there were no faults.

I simply turned the Climate control knob right down to cool and no more heat on my feet.

Hope that helps abit.....

hey all, had this problem on my 180 and my cefiro... annoying as hell in summer, there is a thin metal actuator that dirests the flow of air either through your a/c evaporator or through your heater core, as the HVAC system pulls air from outside the car, it seems mine had pulled in some moisture and corroded this thin metal air control vent therefore constantly blowing hot air through the rusted out portion of my heater box. i only found this due to puttin a custom wiring harness to suit my stinger ecu.

probly not gonna be the same prob on all cars especially the new ones but thats what did it to my cars

yeah i have tried this... and yes it does work.

I have exactly the same problem as the one stated, plus my aircon only blows hot air even when turned on and set to cold... even though the hose in engine bay is ice cold when climate control is set 2 a low temp. im hoping the autoelec can repair it today. He said he thought it would be the actuator or the flap which switches it over from hot to cold.

but in the meantime i have been using this method of switching air con to recycled to stop hot air coming out when off.

Its because no amtter waht your aircon vents will push SOME air through into the cabin, evenw hen your aircon system is turned off. Just turn the aircon temp down to cold or recirculation. This has happened in every car I've ever owned, I guess its so the cabin still gets some form of airflow.

i have this prob also, if it is blowin hot air you can press the cold button on the climate control a few times when its turned off and the air will turn cool, its weird how it will change when pressing the buttons on a turned off unit ..
