would be good if we can have a sticky thread that has the basic requirements in doing track days and some other infos for noob starting from what documentation is needed into basic car upgrades recommended for a track day for us noobs. saves thread being started and ppl repeating themselves over and over again.

i myself have gained a fair bit of info from this thread but im sure others in future will start up another thread asking what’s needed ra ra ra.

@ justins crash when i came over to buy parts off ya i was pretty much like WTF that’s f**ked how did you walk away with only a scratch lol.

which corner was it? the fences are so far back at the island I'm impressed you both managed to hit them!

I've had a few big offs at Sandown but never hit anything... went straight on at turn 1 but pulled it up well before the fence

also went wide at the sweeper at the end of the back straight which was a bit worrying (turned in too late carrying too much speed), if you've been there you know there isn't much room... had to try and turn on the grass at about 150km/h which wasn't a great idea, made it back onto the black stuff though... with a few massive tank slappers trying to get the thing pointing straight again

always beware the last session of the day... the car is not the only thing you have to worry about getting tired!

Inner fence at Siberia. Was powering out and put the power down far too quick. Ended up in the wall :verymad:

nah fences are pretty close in that spot.. i cant remember exactly but a few metres away i think?

inside fence i mean

track days are fun but do it with the expectation that things can go wrong. If ur car is ready then its a bit more fun, good brakes, fluid are a must. Tyres are key, but if ur just banging it around and taking it easy then probably not such a bit deal. bets thing is to just drive at ur own pace and have some fun.

The problem is that the amount of work needed varies depending on what type of event you do, how much experience the driver has & any number of other things.

The three best bits of advice are:

1. Make sure the car is in good repair. Don't go to the track with dodgy stuff or with things needing to be finished, bedded in etc. Sort it out before you get there.

2. Read the regulations & follow them.

3. Go out there & have fun. No one ever learnt how to drive sitting on the lounge at home. Equally very, very few people set the world on fire on their first attempt.
