thought this would be the most suitable place to ask it seeing that its qld section, tossing up putting an rb30et or det, into my new shell, (1989 silvia) would like to know is it actually legal to do this conversion in qld seeing as 99% of rb30s came from earlier model cars and the rules are that the motor must be newer then the make of the car correct? people ive asked have given me answer like buy a rb30 block from nissan or wreckers etc. and stamp rb20 numbers on it but i want to steer clear of this option,

any help would be much appreciated

I think legally you are allowed up to a 3ltr though I could be wrong, best to check out the modification laws on the Qld Gov site dude. It should have details of what size a car brought out with a 1.8 is allowed to have. It's either a 3lt or 2.5lt.

you can also long as the power output isnt higher then 20% of the original engine.....so to be sure then check specs from factory of your current engine to what you want to put in. if its greater then 20% then its illegal....but it shouldnt be....but if you mod it to have 250hp+ then it is illegal..but if you have that and more from your factory size engine...it isnt.
