Hey all,

Took my beautiful R32 down to pedders last night for a 28point suspension check, after 2 hours they concluded that the front L&R wheel bearing was shot - $200 each, Front Shocks leak oil need replacing - $360 a pair, Rear Shocks are badly worn - $496 a pair, L&R Upper-Inner bush worn - $140, L&R L/H rack end worn - ~$100. Plus labor it totaled to $2056 for standard replacement items!

So my question to you is, should i go for a brand new coilover kit worth $1600, or should i stick with standard? I dont need the shocks to be adjustable, but a street package would be a nice option, im just not savy with the different types/options etc. budget is an issue as i need to replace all the busted up parts as well.

Now i can also get from justjap the wheel bearings for $75 a piece :D and i want to source the other items to try and lower the total price a bit in order to opt for a better suspension package.

Any thoughts would be appreciated :P

Thanks,

Zurlox

f**k paying all that to fix up the stock suspension

get a good street coilover for $1200-$1600 and that will see you with a very nice coilover

and its a job you can do at home pretty much, as long as you have a jack, jack stands and tools

then just go back and get a wheel alignment and tell them to get it level

The only problem being a set of coilovers, however nice, will not fix much of what is listed as being wornout.

Also if you look around in the for sale threads you will find second hand stock shockies for beer money. Just check they are in good working condition before buying them.

yeah, my thoughts now are that i will get the critical components replaced, and the shockers can wait a bit, although they are leaking a little bit of oil, they will be good for a bit longer till i can source replacements at a price im willing to pay

The shock absorbers are probably the MOST critical components.

Another victim of pedders :)

Best advice I can give is don't go back there. I swear to god you could take a brand new car in to them and they would tell you that everything needs replacing. In the rare case that things do need replacing who the wants to pay them overpriced slobs to do it with their overpriced crap?

The $1700 you are going to spend on replacement shocks could be much better spent getting some bilsteins sourced by yourself.

Those guys will be able to help you out with upgraded, aftermarket suspension at the same cost as pedders charges for shit stock replacement shocks.
