LOL, nah man. I still drive my car a lot on the street and if it looks rough then i am more likely to get pulled over and dicked. So keep it tidy and shoudl have less porblems. Plus, i will never sell it so best keep it neat, so then when it tastes armco chasing the 1:48 i can rebuild it stronger and better

Is it just me or are u saying you want to have it looking good? but you are goin to crash into a wall and wreck it?

Sounds like a top way to waste some money.... Why not leave it looking shit... then when you hit the wall its not as disappointing..

That's my theory any wayz!

I wasnt beign really serious.... :)

But i do expect that my car will stay well away from tyres for a good many years :)

In 9 years of ownership I have unfortunately tasted tyres 3 times. Calder, EC and Sandown. I count myself as very unlucky at EC, unlucky at Sandown and Calder was 100% my fault. So my direct stooopidity was only that one occassion at Calder drift day.

I sure as shit dont want it to happen, but it can happen when you are having a go and something breaks or lets go on the car. I could have written my car off at PI a few years ago, was screaming up to Honda and my top radiator hose split meaning that I spewed coolant out the front of the car and I literally had no front brakes, it was like I was on ice. I spun a few times, around and around and thankfully got back on the run off road where I was able to stop the car. At the time I thought I had massive brake failure as the car just didnt slow down anything like you would expect. Back in the pits I soon saw what the problem had been. Thankfully there was not much fluid down on the track, so no harm to any other drivers for the next session. The day will come when i get to a corner 10 seconds after somebody has put coolant or oil down and i am at speed :)

Hope not but can happen. I wasnt expecting to spin on my own gearbox fluid at Sandown :)

parts people are the most unreliable people on this planet. im having similar issues at the moment, thankfully it hasnt ruined my plans for PI. bad luck Dane.

Oi!!! I wont hear a bad word said about parts people thank you! :) its just the suppliers that can sometimes cause issues... :)

Also, my entry is faxed so im there! are we gonna all drive up together or something? :)

that sounds all so familiar, same spot too, except mine was oil in someonelses car... i can only imagine the way one would feel writing their car off on someone elses oil... however, if you drive over the oil faster, there is a guaranteed lesser chance of crashing. :)

where did you bin it at EC?

im hoping that is scarcasm. i could go on for ages.. there are always bad eggs in every industry, there just seem to be more where cars are involved.

where did you bin it at EC?

After Corporate Hill (Turn 8) leading up to turn 9 which is the tight right hander. It was pissing down rain and EC doesnt drain all that well in prolonged heavy rain. It was a pretty quiet ARDC day so when it rained there werent any cars to help disperse the standing water. So after a scare at turn 1 and 7 i backed completely off as it was just too scary for me.

Coming out of turn 8 i was cruising playing with the aircon trying to get the window to demist when i hit standing water which made the car aquaplane a little, thing is it made the car move about 2mtrs accross the track touched grass so was a passenger from there onwards. :) Stupid day dreaming at its best. When its wet, drive down the middle of the road to give yourself a buffer when it aquaplanes. I never thought i was going to hit anything, but the thing kept sliding and sliding on the grass. So one of those things, will never let it happen again to me...but after the catches over the preceeding corners i wasnt expecting a similar problem at way lower speeds....i blamed the semis at the time but have driven in the rain a bt since and i cant blame tires.

no sarcasm here buddy! ive been working for subaru in spare parts for about 3 and half years now, and i always strive to give both my customers and my mechanics the best level of service i can. now i cant be doing a bad job as ive just recently been promoted and im now running my own department.

yes, you are right in one sence, there are alot of dodgy/unreliable people in the industry. but please dont generalise! we are not ALL bad.

just to change the subject completley, this will be my first time at the island. some of you may or may not know my car. its fairly modified, however, its still running the HICAS four wheel steering (no locking bar). a few people have warned me about how this can effect the cars handling through high speed corners (which PI has plenty of). they say it can cause the car to "kick out" and thus firing you to the neerest wall, not passing go and not collecting $200 if you get what i mean...

what are other peoples, mainly other GTR owners thoughts on this matter?

appreciate the tips.

I took the hicas out of my car and hardly noticed it at drift days, sandown etc.

Although take it out anyway. It's not a good idea and heavy. I've got one if you want it. Not expensive.

heh, i see your angle now, i wasnt even thinking about factory parts. i dont mind dealing with nissan for eg, although expensive, they are fine. it is the private operators, the importers and wreckers etc that im talking about. again, there are good ones out there and i try to always use them, but geez, there are some real shit busineses around, i dont know how they survive sometimes.

as for the Hicas, i would lose it. just one less 'person' trying to drive the car.

It is true that the car may feel more settled in the corner without the HICAS, however it certainly isn't going to fire you into the next wall as long as you drive it accordingly. Don't try and set a lap record in the first session and build up your corner speeds over the day. I've still got HICAS and managed a 1:49 :)

thanks for the tips guys, i will bear that in mind. i shal see how the car behaves on saturday and i might see about getting it removed down the track.

Belsil80 - i can definately see where your coming from about the aftermarket industry, theres quite a few unreliable companies out there. i think its just a case of finding a good one, developing a good working relationship and sticking with them. even they will sometimes have bad days, but alot of the time it comes down to the supliers in japan for example.

so anyway... is there going to be a cruise to the circuit on saturday morning? if so i would be keen to tag along.

oh well, off to get the alignment done now. gotta love annual leave!
