hey all im trying to keep my car as legal as possible. im planning on taking my car over the pits or doing watevas needed to obtain permits for a few of my mods and future mods (ill take the car over when im finished them) like strut braces, gauges, catch can and exhaust, should i get my permits before the hicas lock bar as it might fail? reason is that i want a hicas lock bar asap on my car, but i wont be able to fninsh off my mods i want permits for until maybe a month when i have money.

has any1 passed with a hicas lock bar installed? ill try to keep it looking stealthy by painting it black, hiding all the wires and taking out the hicas globe.

They will only not pass or take the sticker off for things like car is too low, suspsension too stiff, too loud, oil leaks in engine, locked diffs.

They are unlikely to see the hicas bar, shouldn't fail u for that. but if paint it, 100% pass. mine passed with one

I took my car over the pits recently for mod permits and got knocked back because of mine. They said if its factory fitted then it needs to be there and needs to work. As no one can say a HICAS breaker bar is up to ADR standards it cant pass. I personnaly think its a load of shit and i was unlucky. They said if i can get a leter from a suspension specialist saying the HICAS breaker bar is safe and that HICAS is not needed then i can have it. Im gonna paint it black, throw some mud on it and try somewhere else.

I passed with mine but I also heard a guy got given a sticker for one not long ago.. not sure what happened at the pits about it though.

This is 100% correct. Car went to pits for other reasons (Too lows, cracked windscreen and small stuff) and the inspector picked the locked bar and said it was not legal and a genuine rack needed to be fitted. I installed a factory hicas rack and the car was then passed.

I think it was an isolated incident but be warned, it could happen if you get a certain inspector.

just a quick question on getting permit mods

If you go down to the pits to get them and get knocked back for say too low or exhaust to loud will they sticker your car and ask you to fix them?

sorry for going off topic a bit here.. but i have been thinking about getting permits before i get a yellow haha...

This is exactly what i did and they found somethings. I wasnt yellowed. They put all the things on the form that needed fixing and said come back when i have got it done. Never gave me a time frame.
