Hi

When i put my foot down on the acceleration as far as it will go it struggles to get power to accelerate but its fine when i dont full throttle it??? is there not enough fuel getting through? :P i thought that could be the problem but i wasnt too sure so i thought i would check before i went out ant bought bigger fuel pump. Im running at 12 psi. if anyone has any ideas let me know

I had the same problem, if its pretty stock car with stock ecu, then its your ecu cutting out(for safety reasons i think). In my r33 i can only run 10psi without cutting out, after that it "misfires".

-heaps of people on this forum told me to run 9psi and the car would run better and quciker, and they were spot on. Hope it helps.

But the thing is it doesnt cut out at all it just struggles to accelerate and you can feel the can struggling but then you take your foot back a bit and its fine its just when you have full acceleration on. it does the same on 10 psi i tried dropping it down because i didnt think it could get enough fuel through but it does the exact same. :P

Cheers for your help tho it could be the ecu but i dunno.

ecu + misfiring

it used to happen to me on stock ecu and stock coil packs..

basically if you were building up acceleration slowly it would go good.. but if u tried accelerating quicker or decided to give it a bit it would not go anywehere.. feels lyk there's something holding it back...

my 2 cents but it could be other issues :P

Mines doing the same too. It will run really well on half throttle but sometimes when you put your foot down it will have power for a second then it's like it switches off. How can you tell if your coil packs are starting to pack it in?

im not sure what it could be it could be the coils but i dont really want to buy new coils and find out its not them. There isnt really a good machanic around my area that knows alot about skylines except for auto imports but they didnt do a good job on my service when i took it in they didnt change my sark plugs and they where a mess when i looked at them like a few days after it was serviced and they were meant to do them so im not taking it back there.

If anyone knows a good place in the sunshine coast could u let me know where to go it would be a great help.

You can hear my exhaust spitting when it does it but it still accelerates and give a bit of power but not what it should be there is that bit of power that it loses. Also i tend to backfire a little bit not often and not very big ones but just a bit and i told them about it when it went for a service and when i got it back it still was doing it so i dunno what to do.

thanks for all your suggestions guys

Karl - what mods have you got on your R33?

How are you metering 12psi? Have you tried turning the boost down a bit and see if that helps?

If the exhaust is spitting - maybe its running rich - therefore meaning its getting enough fuel

To me it sounds like its misfiring.

What plugs are you running? Run a diagnostic/reset and see if it helps. Best option i reckn tho - Turn the boost down to 9-10psi as its the magic number.

No nothingg happened to the car before it started to play up. I first noticed it not long after i addded my manual boost controller in. I have it set on 10 psi atm but its still doing the same becasue i thought that could be the problem but i guess it wasnt. Im using the platinum spart plugs im pretty sure its bosc that make them well there pretty exspensive and they are alot better than what was in there before lol.

Thats what i thought that it could be the fuel pump but i wasnt 100% sure and didnt want to waste big $ on getting another one if it wasnt going to fix the problem

Ive checked my plugs heaps of times and i bought the best quality plugs i could find and the gap on them is 1.00 which i set them at and they are always clean. i dont think its my coils becasue they were fine and didnt cause problems before i put my boost up.

getting mine looked at today, imsuspecting fuel pump.

But my plugs are new gapped to .6, it was previously running the same bost and loved it.

It isnt misifiring at all, so with my case im sure as hell isnt spark related.
