Have not heard much about the 8 pots but a few guys have run the 6 pots on their Targa r32's without issues. Steve @ JustJap also runs them on one or two of the r32's he takes down.

With some of the earlier kits I believe some attention needed to be paid when mounting to ensure the pad was not running off the edge of the disc - as this in theory could result in cracking in higher stress situations, but I believe this has been solved with the newer kits.

Make sure they are set up right and you should be fine, and save some $$$ at the same time.

If they are mission critical and you have $8k+ to burn then why not head for some ap/alcon/bmax

quick question for all the brake experts, would you change r33 gtr brembos for the front and rear G4 braking kits????

The 33 GTR Brembo's are nothing spectacular, hardly an upgrade over standard GTR items, still retain 4 piston fronts, 2 pistons rears with 30mm more size over standard. My answer would be yes..

I upgradedfromthe factory brembos. actually I've bought 3sets of the G4s now, we put a set on the zed the other day to replace the pos single piston calipers it came with. and they are mugh lighter than standard too which was nice (alloy caliper + 2 piece rotor is lighter than the 1 piece factory disc + cast caliper)

so we've got the 330s on the zed and the rb30 stagea, and 355s on the race car. Great setup for the price.

On the front i tend to agree they are not that great a value upgrade. For the dollars they are hard to go past though. On the rears you have ot eithe rhave a prety damn serious car or plenty of money to justify an upgrade for the rears over std OE Nissan Brembo 2 pots

Looks comes into it as-well I guess, Big brakes = big wheels... standard oem rear 2 pots are small with big wheels look goofy..

But as far as function goes, Agreed.

Last few months have seriously looked at getting these, but have worked out it will cost me a good 5+k to make upgrade, kit and the wheels that id need to buy to clear them. Or I could just go the 330mm and use my 33 GTR wheels..

This is very interesting as I'm looking to upgrade my brakes very soon and have the OEM Nissan ones on the GTR. Was going to go down the Brembo route but it looks like the G4 maybe a better option.

Can anyone tell me how much more room in mm's I need to accomodate the G4s over the Nissan ones. My new Rays GTCs seem to have a lot of room to spare, but I dont want to find out the hard way.

Also I'm assuming the D2's are the same as the G4s ? just rebranded?

Long story short, China simply does not use particularly good metals/alloys. They use cheap stuff. Chinese made dirtbikes for $500? sweet! Performance brakes for my high performance Japanese car? Not cool. Quality will improve over time but for now I simply would NOT put trust in cheap brakes. They really are quite important, despite Luckieee's objections.

i have over 3000 kms of race or testing on mine and are good. only problem i had was dippy bloody mechanic ( me ) didnt do the bloody bleed nipple up tight, so lost brakes at 240 kph. Apart from that i have used one set of rotors and 6 sets of the green track pad in that time, never had to replace anything else.

I run the 356mm front and rear on a 1320 kg 500 hp R32 GTR race car

Why do people knock these when they have never tried them, granted they are not Alcon etc but a bloody sight better than stock sumito or brembo. This i know as i have brought the brembos, tried them used the stock sumito, and the G4 is miles in front.

I cant see how most people would believe that using 15 year old calipers which have possible never been serviced then a ISO 9002 companys new product which is larger in radius, lighter, greater pad surface area.

My cousin (B. E. Mech) works for a Euro car maker in China, and his experience is different. It may not always be easy to get quality out of some of the local suppliers, but it can be done, and is regularly.

I like the idea of being able to bleed both sides of the calliper, which cant be done with the Sumis.

I got the G4 kit after reading about tacker and Duncans experience with them, and am very happy. The pedal feel is sooo much better than the sumis. IIRC GTR brembo rotors are 327x30mm and G4 are 330x32mm or 356x32mm.

Amyone know a ballpark on $$$ For ap front brakes similar to g4 specs etc..

I think the AP CP5200 4 pot kit with a generic 330mm rotor is going to set you back about $3000, or about $2600 with a TR 324mm DBA 5000 rotor. For a 6 pot 355mm setup you can expect more like $4000

If you are a brand whore like me dont use the D4 etc stuff. :pirate: If you care more about great bang for buck then they are really the only option other then the locall made B=Spec setups (formally known as CSC)

well i have to look into that im not in a rush which is the good thing, car is going to be set up for drift no after anything to serious...

has any one looked at brakes say off a ford teritory or a big 4x4 with the same stud pattern?? :)

Hey, i am agreeing. But last time i priced them AP CP5200 were $800-900 each and come with off the shelf meh pads which may be good to some may not. The 330mm rotor, adaptor and lines all came out of the remaining $1400. When you look at it with DBA 5000s it was easily under $3000. But yes that is not with race pads etc and is only a 4 pot caliper that can only take a 330 x 30mm rotor.

Regarding the rest i again agree. The 6 pot APs are about $1200 each so then you piece together the rest. Thats why i went F40/50. There is plenty of well priced pads, good pad area, simpel and robust 4 pot caliper that covers a good range of rotor diameters. If a dust seal goes then beign 4 pot they are cheap to throw a seal kit at.

I hate how all brake setups are so expensive. The B-Spec (CSC) 4 pots on 343mm rotors are about $2800-3100 from memory which are about the next level up from G2/D4 etc with regards to value.

do you know a lot "made in japan" products actually made in China and Taiwan?? like works etc. they have factory in Taiwan and China.

i don't think cheap things allways mean bad quality.
