Has anyone installed the MotorDyne one yet? I've got mine but the mechanic is telling me its best installed when the engine is stone cold - i hate to be without my car, even for a night.

Also, does anyone know if the ECU/Throttle Body instructions on the last page actually apply to the V?

hate to leave the car even 1 night? when my v35 just arrived my home and driven for 3 days, had problem with pressure sensor, air sensor, brake light... sent to mech for 4 days..(first thing tat come to my mind every morning, is my car)

tat's 1 month ago? now it is with mech again for audio(just simple system), extractor, exhaust, plenum spacer.. drop off monday, estimate friday pick up.. (i will give him another week or so..) extractor itself will take 2 days..

hope everything is fine by then~ :D

will ask about how the install of spacer went thru..

  • 2 weeks later...

Fitted mine today.

My butt dyno do feel the responsiveness and the speed going quicker than before. I'm very happy for the money smile.gif

Took me about 3-4 hours, because i take my time and cleaning the inside of the plenum and the throttle pipe.

If someone decided doing it themselves, you need to get the Torque wrench and it's very important for the installation. Find the one that can do Inch Pound rather than Foot pound.

Just a quick note, that i already have the CF tube intake, Drop in K&N filter, and the Amuse Exhaust. So that's probably why i felt the improvement more.

Still wiating for a before and after dyno to see if it was really worth it

Cheers

Geoff

I have done the before and after test. Read the "Skunk 2 Plenum Spacer Kit" thread.

But if you want the short and sweet answer 7kw at the wheels gain

anybody buy one and want to sell it now?

+1

looks like we r too late for this now...when's the next one~?

btw while I was waiting for the car getting service at Melb City Nissan this arvo, heard a call about someone need help for putting up spacer~ ?

not sure if its for V tho, i am bad at ears dropping~

Ok got my kit the other day, just have to find a spare day to install it.

Was reading through the instructions and it makes reference to diagrams that don't exist and I believe would be relevant. It also mentions that you should drain the engine coolant, do you know if this was done on yours Paul, just that the videos and DIY don't mention it?? (As far as I could see)

    • I found the same with Subaru’s.  I own and love the SG9 Forester, after that model 2008+, Subaru threw the ugly stick at all their line up and somehow managed to make them look worse with every succeeding year.  lol
    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
