Its On Again Dyno Day At High Comp Performance -28/3/09!

Recommended Posts

My AFR are shit...using too much fuel, so need to retune!

EJD001, what did you get? (you were the white r34 parked in front of me yeah?)

5hu70, what did you get also?

anyone know what the purple R33 ran? had a to4z i think!

i got 186.7 with just full exhuast and pod. a/f ratio was ok but could do with some improving in the mid to top end. some people where talkin to him and his like on safe it does 215 and 250 maxed.

wish i wasnt broke as a joke last night i so woulda turned up...... the R33 is tuned to 250rwkw but it woulda been nice to see it on paper and see how she would pull up a few months after the tune

i got down there at 9ish... saw that purple R33... looks nice... thought i would wait around for my turn but there were still heaps of cars waiting to go on..

saw that red type R on the dyno... only put out about 110 at the wheels... (used to think they would be more powerful than that)

couldnt be bothered waiting around so just left lol

169kw!!

i made 161 stock... and ive added a 3in dump pipe back exhaust and fmic..

Joe said last night that the ecu is dumping shitloads of fuel in.. need a aftermarket ecu to lean it out a bit.. A/F ratios were shithouse too...

will post up the dyno sheet when i get a chance to see what u guys think!

Purple R33 got 210 Kw

I did Make it after all guys. I got there a bit late, it was around 9. I had to wait for my mate to drive my car there, caus as you could see I could't drive the beast my cratches

:D But anyway although I was the last to go on the dyno at about midnight, I was happy to see my car doing 250 KW on the wheels :O

i was there representing the r31 club and a few of us had very little mods done since last being dynoed ie me auto to manual

on another dyno i got 100.2kw in the auto, this dyno i got 93.6kw manuals always have more kw

another guy pulls 137.8kw with his na rb30/26 i think he barely got 123kw

my opinion he has set it so we are given a false reading so he can add his sales pitch "if i installed this ecu and tuned it u can gain XXX kw" which everyone i spoke to got told

i call bullshit i beleive he was trying 2 reel in customers

i wasn't there but using mine as a base i got 194rwkw on one dyno place (got 193.9 at different dyno with same modds) with just 3 inch turbo back, fmic and pod.... that other guy above only got 169rwkw, even though he had 161 standard..... when i just had cat back i still hit 172ish....

looks like the dyno may be configured marginally lower than others that are around.....

could just be coincidence rather than purposely dumbing down the results to make sales still...

tuners would take advantage of the situation for upselling at an event like this...i would.

but obviously not by providing false info etc... just saying, "Im here, and can provide you with services etc...came back!)

and dont believe his intention was to provide false info...all dyno's differ on the day i think!

i have never had the same dyno readings...most within 10-15kw though!

i got a 193 on the day, but have gotten 209kw before.

    • This was a huge help.  We followed the steps,  although shifting into 2nd was actually into 3rd for us,  and 1st was into 2nd ( steps 9 and 11) .  The long flash was the 4th flash.  So shift solenoid A is possibly the culprit.  Is this inside the transmission itself? Or is it accessible by just front the pan? Or is it bolted to the outside of the transmission?  Thanos for your help everyone
    • Can you enlighten me on your best practice regarding these hoses? I don't wanna make the same mistake if you already got a better solution.
    • I have some silicon hoses already, for example engine to watercooler. But yeah, I get the sentiment. The lower intercooler silicon hose is drippy too, despite not being very old. Does anyone except Nismo make these same lines out of rubber? Long term I think they'd be the better replacement, especially since the car won't live as hard a life anymore as in the past nor be driven as often.
    • I know most issues are just age related. But for example the turbo oil drains, there is dash adapters for these and you can just make a braided teflon line for them and (probably) never have them leak again. Also not terribly expensive. Can you even get the factory hardlines from new? Or are they repairable if they break?
    • I know it'd be much much easier with the tool. I hope I can find one that won't take 3 weeks to get to me an isn't a "Asian models kit" that has tons of (to me) useless adapters for a load of cash.   It's a summer project/fun car. I do wanna enjoy it, without endless downtime over and over. So yeah I would even go and buy an engine crane + stand to save myself the trouble of hard to reach or unreachable places going bad later on. Would also be a good opportunity to put on a Fluidamper, renew the mains seals and stuff like that. I have some money on the side that I can use for that, what I wouldn't want to or be able to do is let everything be done by a shop or have my engine completely rebuild right now. I intend to do most of the "doable" jobs myself. Pulling an engine can't be that hard, can it?
