lol i guess you get what you pay for. Spose i could grab that shell and a wrecked donor car and transfer all the shit over. buy daves rb20 n box and away we go.

Arrived at work at 6:15am

Made Coffee at 6:20am

Checked bbc.co.uk for any football news 6:20 - 6:40am

Surf SAU 6:40 - 8:30

Started actually working 8:50am

Get ready for subcontractor meeting 8:50 - 9:30am

Subcontractor Meeting 10:00 - 11:00am

Harass steel fixer for Quality Assurance sign offs 11:00 - 11:20am

Breakfast, Smoko & Lunch combined 11:30 - 12:30

Heart attack from eating full roast chicken from Woolworths 12:30 -13:00

More Surfing of SAU 13:00 - 13:30

Go on site and point at stuff 13:30 - 14:00

More Surfing of SAU 14:00 - 15:00

Do some actual work 15:00 - 16:00

Currently surfing SAU again.

any recommendations where I can get a roof cut done? need to get rid of the sunroof as I can't fit in with a helmet

got a quote from Cameron's body works for 2k plus parts to get it done.

i can nearly find a complied shell for that money and just swap everything over..

Also went and spoke to a shop in Underwood that do a few race cars/drift cars (they did the body work on the Option1 Silver 350z). Without sitting down at working out each cost, they said around $1000 to weld in a pannel.

I have seen roof cuts on ebay for as little as $150. Cut at the pillars, so easy to match and cut, then re weld. People are put off, but I don't know why - People take the roof off cars for SERIOUS roll cage building, it's not different - Your just replacing it with another one.

IMHO if anything putting a sunroof in a non sunroof car makes a car weaker then welding in a non sunroof, roof.

oh and yeah putting in a sunroof in a non sunroof car would weaken it big time. Especially if you don't do any additional bracing. As long as its all welded properly then there is no reason it won't be as strong as before.

      It's a stunning location!  I've been to NZ twice but haven't made it to the North Island yet.  Definitely on the cards but the South Island is hard to tear yourself away from too... Looking forward to see what you can wring out of it once you can get it to hold together!  Be awesome to get a low 11 or even sneaking into the high 10's pass out of it.  That's a bloody quick car that most people will never experience in their life.  Enjoy!

Outsourcing to Japan is also a relatively good deal at the moment because their currency has devalued much more against the USD.  You would assume this but a lot has changed from the pandemic. Mechanics are in short supply and demand for fixing old cars has gone up from the cost of new cars. 250-300 USD/hr is not an unusual shop labor rate in California and you’re paying that regardless of whether the guy is competent or not. Coworkers have been quoted 3000 USD for a water pump and thermostat at a dealer on an N54. Oil changes went from ~75 USD to 150 on fairly normal cars like Civics. The cost of the oil and filter hasn’t even kept up with inflation.

      The downside to that is that the cost of everything, particularly labour, is significantly higher here than it is over there in the Disunited States of Slavery. You can hire 3 tradesmen over there for just the Ranger Raptor allowance of a single 3rd year apprentice over here.
