I need to invest in a windscreen sun deflector thing. Got in my car this afternoon, and apart from 50'c heat coming out of it, I noticed a little bubble on the dash :(

I just realised I may have run into you before, have you bought through Core Computers?

just keep a pair of baby socks in the car, fits perfectly over the gear knob and either stops it from getting hot in first place if you remember to put it on when parking, or protects your hand after the fact if you forget.

nah thats what i use the footy socks for

Stupid boost leak...... I think Martin's right, exhaust leak before the turbo, my money is on the turbo manifold gasket not seated properly.

Fun weekend ahead...

Lads.

Downloaded Unstoppable, Dinner for Schmucks and Burried, so will make a long evening off watching that.

No work to get up for in the morning so can be a late one

Out of beer and bourbon though, so it's going to have to be a dry one.... ghey

On a side note, fair few cops out tonight. Were out in force. Spotted nearly a dozen on my drive into Carina and back.

ravi i'll come around on the weekend sometime for you, plus i got stuff to drop you!

Aircon is awesome to work in, you guys that are mechanics should really work in an aircon'd shop, we don't get above 24 degrees. Old shop was better, 30+ degrees outside and we could keep that place at around 19 degrees all day.

I learnt the lesson with the metal gearknob, now i run a plastic nismo one instead, much nicer on the hand. The rust bucket is running so much smoother now, new gearbox mount finally fixed the vibration i got under hard acceleration.

Sweet mang, that'd be awesome. Dunno when I'm free yet though, but I've got about 3 hours free tonight after work so I'll see about lazily getting into getting all the piping off to save some time later. And yeah keen as for that 'stuff' you got ;)

P.S. Morning mangs!

    • Nah no bearings, just slip fit.  Would be a reasonably challenging but not impossible job to modify it to run bearings but I'm hoping that's not necessary as I may have well built one myself if I end up spending hours modifying it!
    • Brumbys with good shells are bloody expensive, I've looked at 2 "cheaper" cars, and walked away from both,  plus after some research spare parts are fairly sparce I'm starting to think that I missed the boat on finding a clean one that is straight (ish) and without alot rust I'm starting to think about a old Hilux as panels and other parts are much more available as they sold tens of thousands of them I use to be indecisive but now I'm not sure
    • A Brumby would probably fit a big metal toolbox in the back... this is how it begins
    • Picked up a new OEM boot seal for the MX5 today as the old one got ripped a bit by me being a idiot by seeing if I could fit a large metal tool box in it, it didn't fit, and ripped the seal with the corner of the tool box I am still waiting on time to get the cams and new balancer installed, as well as the repairs to the boot Time will not be an issue soon though
    • I was more thinking so it doesn't flop around as much rather than for rotating it. Once you have the balance right, it should rotate well enough, depending on how much resistance there is on the pivot. I think you said the pivot point was on a bearing though didn't you?
