FG F6's are going pretty cheap these days :D

I plan on picking up a second hand FG, maybe not a F6, as my next car in a few years. The value of falcons goes to shit quickly, but its great for second hand buyers.

Well you can pick an F6 up for around 50 these days. While yes, the value of them drops to shit after a few years the original 03/04 XR6T's can still be sold for around 18,19k provided they've been treated right. Typhoons are still around the 30 - 40s mark for a well treated one as well. The performance models seem to hold value a bit easier.

FG XR6T is actually quicker than the F6 is anyway!

ahh yer i know it. Company policy does not allow us to take one to the shops for lunchs and what not, every km must be accounted for on them unfortunently. Plus the customers don't like it.

pfft how easy is it to account for the kms though. Oh yeah there was a noise coming from the muffler bearings so we had to take it for a road test. So that's where the extra 1200kms came from

If I was going to buy a ford I'd probably be looking at one of the new Focus Rs models. They should depreciate nicely in the next few years and they'd be a stupidly fun car for day to day stuff. Either that or one of the new Falcons with the 5l coyote engine :worship:

Oh and Morning Mangs.

221kw and 400nm through the front wheels lol. Apparently the tricky diff eliminates torque steer very well. Would love to have a go in one.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!

Love the add. "no rust". That thing had rust hanging out of it at the last dyno day I saw you at. Time doesn't heal all wounds especially rusty wounds!

Lol. Somebody broke the internet. And everything else. No one can do any work. Oh well, I'll bum on the interwebs on my phone.

@Colin: some surface rust, and a bubble or two on the bonnet from memory. Nothing too bad.

P.s. how do you quote/multiquote on mobile sau?

we cut all the rust out when we removed the rear section, from memory the top of the rear screen was starting to get some surface rust.

Mangs

work sucks. forcing me to do some actual work lately. not impressed. as a result, looking for another job. I feel I should be able to get away with an hour worth of honest work in a day if working for government. I actually had to put in a good 5 hours worth of work today....

    • Thanks, plan is to drain all fluid tomorrow and do smoke test to find out the leak.   Appreciate your help and want to understand how the system work. So cooling is achieved by the long loop not any rad? The diagram seems to suggest it connects to somewhere inside the cabin and I thought that is a cooler inside firewall. If you look at the diagram it seems to show it connects to something inside firewall. I tried chasing it but not easy unless I take loads off   i am confident pump is good as fluid goes in and it gets soft( steering) but as soon as I turn engine off , loads of bubble come to surface and overflow. When engine is on , fluid level is below minimum but when off it shoots off and thinking it is sucking air in. I suspect aluminium pipe may have a crack line or whole   smoke test with no fluid should be a good start and if needed will remove the pump   In addition, the one going under the engine bay is high pressure line and one directly connecting from pump to resorvoir is return/ low pressure?   finally I searched and suggestion is to use dexron 2 but that is discontinued so bought dexron 3 as all research suggest it is compatible and shouldn’t cause any issues/ blow seals. I bought two liter of dexron 3 motul atf
    • Don't worry about. Just don't try to drive hard enough to make boost and you'll be fine.
    • Yes. This has already been said. It is a loop of hardline in front of the radiator. Because.... the pump is on the LHS and the steering rack hydraulic connections are where they always are on a RHD steering rack....on the RHS. The high pressure line goes down under the engine, along the crossmember, like it does on all Skylines. Don't just throw expensive braided hoses/other kits at it. Work out what is wrong and fix that.
    • Still got the afm on the intake, clamps are shut tight, only loose hose is the one that goes from the j pipe towards the IACV, since it's next to impossible to find a factory hose and the barbs are different sizes (I'm still using clamps on this hose to try and help it seal on the iacv side) I've ordered parts to make up the hotside of the intercooler pipes, I'll plumb it in and see what happens in a few days I suppose The turbo's internally gated, can I just unscrew the tension rod to let the gate open?
    • Did this ever go further ? Would love some updated info
