I've been bludging for 7 weeks now :P

I'm right there with you... Savings are no more though :/

Meet on tonight? Need to get paintball deposits for those that are going.

Quick advice time. I currently have a company car with a $250 a month fuel allowsnce whi ch i pay $55 + $6 insurance reduction per week. I can get a car allowance of $150 per week ( so i dont have to pay fbt) i own my car outright. Should i do it? It does mean turning the skyline into a daily but i think it is worth it. Whats everybodies thoughts? Cheerz

My bet would be on no, not worth it. Extra maintenance and depreciation would probably be the killer. Don't forget the hike to your insurance as you are now using your car for business purposes. It would need an accountant to go over it to make sure however. if the $150 a week you would get would cover ALL of your maintenance, fuel, extra insurance and depreciation it would be worth it but I doubt that would happen.

Please note that this does not constitute real financial advise. Go talk to an accountant :P

I only need to drive it to and from work. Once im at work i use any car i want. im worried bout the extra maintance as well.

I use my skyline as a daily, although I have very short trips to work so I don't mind. I just love the feeling of getting into my car after finishing work each day. To each their own though :)

this man knows where its at. my skyline is my quiet comfy A/Ced daily driver....thats what i bought it for.....>_<

My drive to work tho is at least an hour( warner to morooka) i love driving it, will my love go away when im driving it? Thats my biggest concern coz that would suck.

    • Good to see you followed your heart, got your dream car and have it pretty well sorted out now. I think anyone can get caught out with a seller not being 100% honest about a cars problems. Can relate to all the electrical issues, had similar issues with my first car (mk2 escort) ages ago

    • Honda's hybrid system can be easily scaled up to PHEVs. Series hybrid at low speeds, at higher speeds the engine directly drives the wheels but there can still be some power bled off to charge the battery + the electric motor can still provide parallel assistance too. It's really only a question of will at that point. Toyota's PHEVs are selling incredibly well at the moment because of the flexibility. You can run on EV mode when it makes sense, but if you're planning on doing a long highway drive you can still fire up the gas engine and not have to worry about dealing with the rather miserable state of public charging infrastructure.
    • Only reason to keep a MAF on your RB25 is to be able to easily calculate true VE if you know what the factory voltage curve represents in grams per second of flow. Also allows you to do things like pull the original OEM ignition + AFR target tables and use those as a starting point for your base map. Once you're well and truly done tuning though there's no need to retain the MAF.
