Hey Guys,

There is a wierd grinding sound coming from underneath the car. Took it to the mechanic but once I drive it and warmed up the sounds quieten's down.

For me it sounds like its coming from the clutch/gearbox area. When cold it makes a grinding type noise can be very quiet then goes loud (Very tempermental varies day by day). When I start to drive or reverse it can get a little louder.

Mechanic was saying maybe it could be the exhaust rattling. He says its not an engine issue so thats atleast one thing out of the way.

Just wondering if anyone here has experienced something similar and would like to share some knowledge.

Thanks

I'd check your exhaust. Happened to me, the rear resonator had been bent and was grinding against the drive shaft. Mine would make a weird grinding sound when decelerating and when cornering.

If its the same thing, you'll see a line of silver/scratch running around the outside of the draftshaft.

I had a similar issue when one of the tuning shops pushed the turbo actuator rod the wrong way .. the car would make a rattling noise that sounded like it's coming from under the car somewhere. The justjap mechanic after a bit of trial and error noticed a scratch on the chasis near actuator and saw that someone pushed the actuator the wrong way .. so he pushed it back the right way and the noise stopped.
