Received the following email from Mountain Motorsports today...

Due to the current global financial situation, Mountain Motorsports have decided to call it quits after this year’s Mt Buller Sprint. It has been a tough time for a lot of us and the cancellation of 2 events this year hasn’t made it any easier.

Don’t miss the opportunity to be involved with the final running of the infamous Mt Buller Sprint which will be run on the first weekend in December (4th-6th). We have attached your Expression of Interest Form and as entry numbers have been limited, we ask you to return it ASAP to ensure you won’t miss out on any of the action.

It will be the final Tarmac Event of the year and we guarantee the ‘afterparty’ will be one to be remembered for years to come.

On a serious note, we extend our most sincere sympathies to all the families and communities involved with the recent bushfires, and ask that you read the attached letter from Chaplaincy Australia, who have been great supporters of our events. A big ‘Thank-You’ goes to Mark Bateman and his team for the incredible difference they are making to the families directly affected. Please support him generously.

We look forward to seeing you on the mountain in December!

BUGGER! Looks like this year's will be my first and last Buller.

Sad to hear MM is doing it tough, and very sad to see the event disappear from the calendar.

Yeah it's a big bummer that basically 2 of the 4 AASA rallies will be gone now - especially since I built my car to AASA spec!

But even though I've never done Mt Buller or Lake Mountain I can kind of understand why numbers have dropped for these events. There must be a heck of a lot of waiting around compared to a normal tarmac rally between driving stages since every time you have to wait for the whole field to go up and back down again between runs.
