I have been thinking though. The stock turbo was set to 13/14psi but in cold weather had no trouble pushing over the boost limit though my intercooler and it's a much smaller turbo.

One thing to note on my current setup is my actuator gets it's boost feed from the cold side of the intercooler so technically the turbos wastgate should be shut tight when my boost starts to drop.

Rolls - that's why I'm here, to see what people have on their cars. I think I should actually use what ever stao has on his test car as it "should" give similar results.

Yes but your new turbo is now flowing much more at that given boost pressure.

You should hook the actuator to the nipple on the compressor, why on earth are you running it from the IC?

Re using the same IC as him that is a really good idea, at least you are removing another unknown that way.

There isn't a nipple on the compressor. The fitting that used to go to the charcoal canister was the closest fitting I found.

FAIL!

This will be half your issue... Run it from the compressor cover or the cooler piping BEFORE the intercooler

that is weird that it doesn't have a nipple on the compressor housing, are you using one of HGs aftermarket housings? If so how does he set them up?

If anything though running the hose from anywhere else should cause boost spiking, not bleeding off.

I think its best to send it back and swap for a FNT G3, I can give you my 330rwkws nistune map, load it in and see if that changes boost and power behavior, That turbo should also suit your driving style better.

Ok I'm sick of playing this game now. Now it only makes 16psi and nothing has changed

You're changing it's symptoms, that's a good thing. Just keep working through it.

I have a fancy pants Fluidampr harmonic balancer on order, the 2.5 engine uses the OEM 2.0 balancer off the old motor as the 2.5 balancer is a larger unit and doesn't fit clearance wise, which, because the two engines have different harmonics, isn't optimal, the OEM balancer does the job, but as the gear driven balancer in the bottom end is removed to fit a RWD application there is slightly more vibration, the Fluidampr helps with the harmonics that the gear driven balancer once took care of,  basically makes life easier on the oil pump and bearings when thrashing it around Hopefully the weather gets better soon because I'm keen for some cruising around, and currently, with the winds and storms we are getting, the amount of detritus being blown around from trees on the road isn't something I want to be driving around in
