Tamiya TA05 with R35 body - i don't touch Kmart/eBay stuff. Offset is a bit extreme i will admit but i can't afford lesser offset wheels so it will just have to do. This is my spare drifter, the main drifter is out of action for now. This is the main one:

Rarely post, as i don't have a Skyline/Nissan so just alot of reading and browsing.

Mods please move to the right section, couldn't find Off-topic.

Thanks for looking

The R35 GTR looks nice. Top Secret Gold..? LOL! With Work Emotion Wheels, massive stretch tho... Flare your guards Haha!!

The Carbon Fibre bonnet looks good, is it a sticker? Cuz in some of the pics you took, it looks like it has a mesh effect over it or did you just paint the bonnet black and laminate it?

STi looks cool.

Iam thinking of getting a R/C Drift car, I think I saw a Tamiya one of just under $300 with the STi Body Shell and I wanna interchange them with a Silvia S15 or R32 GTS-T.

hey,

The C/F style bonnet is indeed a mesh overlay. It's a mix of paints to get the effect. Silvia S15 is in abundance and you can get R32 GTR bodies. Tamiya bodies have the best details, HPI if your on a budget

Really?!

Looks well done with the mixed paint to get the carbon fibre effect. Good stuff.

Yeah Tamiya body shells are like $60 - $70 +

Might have to look into HPI.

Thanks buddy!

Very nice..

How does it go with suspension travel in the rears?

I've got a supra around somewhere, had around 1mm clearance rears to guard and it kept bottoming out and locking the rears (over bumps ect). I ended up chopping the axles and dumping the whole body burying the tyres right up to the rims front and rear. Mean!

Wanna race..lol

Excess My brother got the R35 body. The WRX body i had sent over from Japan with a bunch of other gear. Tamiya bodies generally will cost more because you get better detailing and light buckets with the newer bodies. HPI is cheaper because it's manufactured here but the detailing is crap house.

bubba I'm running on US grade ABS which has slightly more grip the PE/Poly pipe. As for power: the older generation Novak brushless systems - the SS5800. Heaps of power and response that's for sure!

Ahh ok. With my old brushed motor I was using the white PVC plumbing pipe over the top of my rubber tyres (found it was too harsh mounting ABS straight onto the rims).

I then got myself a Castle Creations 5700kV brushless setup for Xmas and it was WAY too much for the shitty old TT01 chassis.. so got myself a HPI Pro-D chassis.

The power of the brushless is ridiculous, even just on a 7.2V NiMH stick pack.. I have since found that the rubber "drift" tyres that come with the TT01D kit work the best for my setup, heaps of traction when needed but when you squeeze the throttle on there's heaps of wheelspin  Srsly, with this motor it's almost like the old motor on the plastic tyres!

I find with the proper rubber tyres it's a lot nicer to control and isn't so much like skating on ice.. only downside is they come pre-glued to WRX style rims ;)

When I've got some spare cash (that isn't being spent on the 32 or paintball), I'll get some nice rims and try some proper racing slicks (hardish compound).. and maybe a 3S LiPo pack if I can find one that will fit in the chassis :D

Yeah they do make nitro cars, some specific to drift and some not.

Personally I like electric for drifting, my offroad truck is nitro though.. makes for some great wheelstanding, jumping fun :D

hey man, oh awesome man thanks for that, yeah i agree electric would be much easier and smoother for drifting but then like you said for off road nitro is the way to go.. I’ve got a kyosho road/dirt nitro car with a 03 sti shell but haven’t used it in so long

Yeah haven't used my truck in a while either.. nitro is just more effort and everytime I take my truck out, I do something stupid (like try hit some ridiculous jump) and break something lol

For road stuff (drifting), I find it's much easier to have a smoke while the motor cools down and just throw another battery in. The real nerdy part is, my speed controller plugs into a PC and you can map the power and braking curves, set traction control (pfft) and some other things.. now, I have a PC in my 32, was out drifting the r/c car one day and thought, could really do with a bit more power down low.. so plugged it into my carPC and had a tinker :P

Thought I recognized the shitbox in the background :D:woot: jks man, looks awesome, needs less offset tho haha. I know it's been covered but it really does.

Love the bonnet and the colour looks great too. I'd like to do a new shell one day soon but keep spending my funds on real car purposes :(
