hey all

as some of you might of heard, in very unfortunate circumstances my sil caught on fire and melted a engine loom, and long and short of the short is it cracked a ring glan and then went down hill from there... so the poor lil 20's days are over :(

but from bad comes good....

and has finally given me a excuse to a RB25/30 :P

so here is what I have so far for the build...

(only started collecting parts only bout 1-2weeks ago)

- RB25 S2 Head

- RB25 Loom

- RB30 S3 Bottom end

- ACL Race Main Bearings

- ACL Rod Bearings

- ACL MLS Headgasket

- 2x Tomei Oil Restrictors

so this is now whats on the to get/do list:

- Boring, Blueprinting etc... on rb30 bottom end

- Arais Forged 20"tho Oversized pistons

- ACL Race Rings

- "x" Forged Rods

- Tomei Pro Cams (264 inlet, 272 exh)

- Stronger Value Springs

- ARP Head Stud Kit

- ARP Rod Bolts

- CNC billet rb30 crank collar

- assorted earls fittings and braided hose

- CNC Powertune RB30 Oil Power gearset

- Gates Timing Belt to suit 25/30 combo

- Custom Oil Drain

- New Water Pump

- Send my turbo back for the new one :D (GT3076R .84r)

- 50mm ext gate (currently running a KKR 38mm)

and thats all I can think of so far...

aiming to have the donk done by june-july... as there is a fair bit of coin right there haha!!

but 3 or so months anit long to wait :)

but if you have any suggestions fire away!!

cheers

N1GTR: hitting the streets on permit that is, since mine is a track car!!! :P:(

I enjoy the old permits tho!!! its great fun!!

doing a CNC billet set of oil pump gears that are custom made to fit the std pump surround... but the gears itself are alot stronger and better..

and yes ill be doing a enlarged sump as well...(its similar to the high energy style ones)

and have had a chat to my engine builder and have decided to go with 40"thou oversized pistons, which brings it to 3.1ltr !!!

and we are going to piss the vct off as well.. n run some tad smaller cams... and some adjustable cams gears as well

here is a pic of the car when it had the rb20 in it..

(mine is the blue s13.5)

Looks like a great build, i would recommend running an external oil pump, and dry sump it or rear sump it so you can lower the motor.

yeh i would love to run a ext oil pump but its the cash,

donk will fit in sweetly man... just wait and watch what im going to do when the time comes to slide it in...

nice car mate. i guess u drift it? cant go wrong with the rb30's for sliding my 2nd one is in progress aswell

decided to go with 40"thou oversized pistons, which brings it to 3.1ltr
awesome this means i will have 3.1 litres aswell. theres no replacement for displacement haha

yeh started to slide man, only been out 1 n a 1/4 times on the track

and was just starting to get a grip of things then the mis-happen of the engine loom melt down..

oh well now the power will be nice and responsive and will be easier to steer without having to be trying to bring it up on revs...

good work mate, i have been for 3 years now haha. i cooked a loom too when my engine blew and oil seal and caught fire on the track. you definately will have more response form the 30 vs the 20 it will be a big difference you will love it.

picked up ARP Headstud Kit today,

next week, the full forged SCAT rods, and 40" over sized Arais Pistons + Arais Rings,

Gates Belt Kit, and my Extended Sump... will be in :D

then after have got all them,

can start to put together the bottom end in the next few weeks

then we are away n cooking with gas :P yay!! : :hypo:

Also awaiting to hear back on the price of my Tomei Poncams + springs... (264deg inlet/exh),

once I know I can order away :)

so getting there at a steady rate now :P

    • Depends how low and tyre size. Should fit with natural camber, skinny tyres and rolled guards.
    • Hi guys, planning to get 18x9 +25 in fronts and 18x10 +25 in rears been reading the whole thread and cant really find anything   Anyone know if these will fit a r34 gtt with no scrubbing or guard work needed?
    • They usually get made by hand as part of any such swap.
    • Was planning on getting an R35 MAF and the adapter, should this be okay? Also any idea where I could get my hands on an intake pipe?
    • I mean yes, if you're starting from scratch on an unknown engine yes you don't need to be doing all kinds of math in the background but if you're doing relatively minor changes like AFM + injectors + boost up with some aftermarket turbos it takes quite a bit of math if you want to do something like maintain OEM fuel + timing tables but compressed and then a bit more load scale up top. I think I've spent too much time working on big engineering nightmares though so I'm a big fan of trying to constrain the scope of whatever work I'm doing as much as possible and trying to get it right before moving on. For example, a local owner just did the usual E85 + single turbo conversion to his R32 GTR and nearly burned his car to the ground doing some spirited driving up the local mountains. Turbine is unshielded and too close to the hood insulation. It's tough to balance "just get the project done" and "seemingly small details can cause massive setbacks I'm not willing to deal with".
