Alien
Hey guys I've got a R34 GTT with 70,000 kms on it and I got my oil changed but they put in Shell Helix Plus which is not fully synthetic oil. Will the car be ok to run this or should I get it redone with Mobile 1? Thanks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/262214-non-fully-synthetic-oil-in-gtt/ Share on other sites
The Mafia
I use Shell Helix fully synthetic 5w40. After 4 years, and 2 years at 210rwkw, and 2 years at 300rwkw, engine is still great, compression tests fine. Just get some of that stuff. The Dan
It's not the recommended oil for your engine....Ultra is the Shell recommended but it won't do any damage. If you don't want to change it straight away, leave it in there but avoid redline driving or if you can't help yourself, change it atfer 2-3000kms instead of the recommended 5-7000. It will be fine either way Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/262214-non-fully-synthetic-oil-in-gtt/#findComment-4492195 Share on other sites
Alien
Thanks guys I think I will change it as soon as I get some time to take the car back to them. SS8_Gohan
get your oils from here, and mention you're from SAU www.performancelub.com afaik, Shell don't make any TRUE synthetic oils that are available off the shelf. Without going Redline, i'd go with either Motul 300V Royal Purple German Castrol If just street driving, 5w30 would be my pick, or even an 0w depending on the State i guess. If the car is given a bit of stick regularly, or a little bit of track time, 10w40 should cover it. Munkyb0y
those oils are great, but the price isnt anywhere near the Shell oil he used. Motul 8100 xcess 5w40 well priced, 100% fully synthetic, more than adequate for a street car if youre in Sydney, just jap does a deal with genuine nissan oil filter, and the motul oil, for around $75. bargain! (OO)SKYLINE(OO)
Was your car engineered in Japan when Full Synthetic Oil was avaliable..? Since you gota R34 GTT I would say so... You will be safe with Mobil and thats what I use and probley best if you get it back to a Full Synthetic and I would be interested in seeing what the Nissan hand book recommends for R34 GTT's. Older Skylines are ok with Semi Synthetic oils.
