Well come to profile a turbo it all depends on what the customers want. Some just want bit over 200rwkws with stock response and some want power and etc. But it all depends on the type of Turbine housing that people bring in for high flow. Small R33 turbine housings probably can only push out 240rwkws wither the bigger R34 rear housings get maxed close to 260rwkws.

Also have to be very careful about the back pressures with the high flows, if the turbo profile is too big for its housings then it will create high exhaust pressure that pushs every thing against the comp housing. The thrust bearing is made to stop that but if the pressure is too high then the bearing will fail.

^^ so about your comparo about two totally different turbo's, different wheels, different bearing type... how was it relevant exactly?

Because i still fail to see how its even remotely the same other than the fact they are both turbo's with two wheels, two housings and one cartridge.

Yeah, it's good, just have to be careful in the wet :3some: Took the airbox lid off and it picked up 13rwkw up high straight away and even a touch through the rest of the midrange. Don't really want to put a pod back on so I'll need to figure out what I'm going to do to the airbox now.. may even spool slightly faster?

So what is it comes down to is keeping the turbo kool.. ie you may have to also set the turbo timer a bit longer with the new highflow.

Hypergear i no its a "how longs a peice of string comment" but would u say your product could last say 200 000ks or is there a life expectenancy with the type of bearing systems u run..

What make CGC highflows or garret a better product than urs (not saying it is) just from what i read

I really don't see why they can not last 200,000Kms. They are build using Garrett parts and some are using complete Garrett CHRAs. Work has been carried out with very well know turbo builders and engineers who's been building turbos for more then 25 years. Our job is getting every one working together to produce a quality and affordable product in Australia.

How many ppl have had sucess with these turbos... Geraus seems to be happy with his purchase any others??? in paticular the ATR28G2 /G3. Hypergear how many SAU members of u sold these to roughly. Sorry about all the questions just trying to build a decent page on these turbos as they seem to be a good affordable option and many ppl seem to have interest, now all they need is confidence

We actually tried it with the filter, lid and snorkle off. It was late and if I had of thought about it more I would have tried it with the filter in and then with just the lid, no snorkle. I am running a Pipercross panel filter which should be ok but without trying it on the dyno it's hard to tell. The standard snorkle does look to be a bif restriction. It looks big from the top but take it off and look at the bottom and through it and the cross section is reduced greatly. This is due to it being moulded to go over the turbo outlet/ intercooler inlet pipe.

Are the hypergear turbos oil or water cooled or both. If its a bolt on operation i would say it would be both am i correct... This should keep the tempretures down resulting in a longer life yer???

Can someone cofirm that 220rwkw is achiveable with the stock injectors/ pump and AFM... How far from capacity will these components be running at this power output

They can be water and oil cooled depends on customer's request there is no extra cost.

Stock injectors and AFM can archeive 230rwkws max:

TR43 (old version) on R33 Rb25det @14psi. With FMIC, exhaust, Pod and Dr.drift's tune.

a lazy 307rwhp (230rwkw) with a highflowed s1 turbo (ball bearing), stock injectors , stock afm and safc2. boost sits on 8 psi then creeps up to 11 psi. pulls hard and looks stock . go the highflow. and the spool up sounds great :D

i highly recommend a gcg item, but if your on a budget then yeh i guess hypergear works well also.

my car has the following mods:

gcg hi flow.

isc radiator

z32 afm

turbo back exhaust (one piece dump/front pipe)

catco higl flow metal race cat

jim berry full monty clutch.

gfb bleeder valve

front mount cooler

had my nistune done down at status tuning on friday, last week. extremely pleased with the power its making. it bloody feels awesome.

yep, basically the turbo was removed from the car, sent to gcg, and returned (well my good mate got the turbo done whilst he owned the car)

WOw some great results guys. Higflow is looking positive IMO... Quik Question y is water and oil cooling and option surely everyone would want to run both... will the water lines need to be upgraded like the oil feed line or are these onece agian strait plug and play

Hmm that GCG high flow looks quite laggy to me. Here is the only dyno plot I have with an overlay of my stock turbo (dyno tuned on ~11psi) and my GT30R - unfortunately I had a few issues with tune and boost control (or the lack thereof) so its not the most flattering at all but you get the gist of it. This is a GT30R on around 1.1bar running a lazy internal gate actuator, so the wastegate initially creeps open at around 12psi then once it reaches 1bar it kindof wavers up and down.

Now if I am reading it rightly, despite needing a retune and decent boost control the .82a/r GT3076R (which really shoots for a higher power level than the GCG high flow) also spools better and makes better power for similar boost.

^^ ye the GCG one actually needs a bit of love :D

You need to have a fiddle with the actuator as i've seen a two examples now of GCG's and the int gate opening FAR too soon due to the actuator being lazy/not tight enough.

Tighten it up correctly (or just fit an aftermarket one which is better overall) ... And hey presto!

Response comes right back 500-1000rpm depending on how loose the one you have is, could be even more.

Bass Junky and another user have had these problems with them, so its worth a look thats for sure as my 600hp GT30 was moving faster as well so its a fairly safe bet another actuator issue :mad:

Don't forget that a series 2 standard turbo has a nylon compressor wheel and ceramic turbine wheel. Just based on the weight/inertia of them it should spin up quicker than a steel wheeled unit. I know there is more to it but even with a GT2530 I still get the feeling that it doesn't have the initial poke of the standard turbo coming on to boost. Hard to tell without a dyno of it to compare properly though.

Also just a note the standard replacement HKS actuator I got for my turbo was only rated at around 12psi not 14psi that I've seen a lot of peopl mention. It could be a different model though?
