anyone have any clue how my cigarette lighter could be rusty inside? maybe whoever owned the car in japan lived in a particularly damp area or somethin? i guess that would also explain the condensation in the headlights....

a few of the lights on the instrument panel don't work either which i thought unusual as the car has supposedly only done 55,000km

Condensation in the headlights..most people usally have, it goes away sometimes and sometimes u have to remove the globe covers and let it evaporate. Also with electronics the globes might of just died out..whay year/type is the car?? since it has only 55,000km on it. Under on all the plastic on your gearstick if upull that console out u can see metal if thats rusted then it might be a possibility. Your door covers if u are doing a speaker upgrade u can check those to see if it "was" in a flood or something that some of the crap or some signs of water damage might be thier. The ciggy light dosent cost much to replace as long as the chassis its rusting then u shouldnt have that much to worrie about. Cheer MY 2 Cents.

It's possible the car may have been in a flood. We the rainy season hits here, floods can easily happen (especially in my part of Japan) and cars can and do get flooded out...

I once looked at a Skyline that was selling for much cheaper than it ought to be. Asked the dealer why this was so, and he said that it had been standing in water after a typhoon had hit. Sure enough, had a look in the boot and under some carpets and there were signs of corrosion...

just a thought...

the engine runs fine though, wouldnt the engine be screwed if it had been flooded ? i looked in the boot under the carpet, it looks ok... i think

there is one odd thing though, the speaker covers in the back are missing... i dont think the speakers have been changed though. do sony speakers normally come stock in japan? the dealer was meant to get me some covers but hasnt as yet... no surprise there

car is 93 r33 gtr. what do you mean the globes might of died out? the headlights work fine. i wonder how many imports have had their odos' replaced/wound back... they all seem to have low km, i doubt they can all be legit

The engine on the flooded out car I looked at also seemed to run very smooth. In fact when I first looked at the car I had no suspicions - the only thing that raised doubts in my mind was it's low price...

But, I'm just saying that it is possibility. Another would be that someone split a drink over the centre console and rust has occurred that way...

As far as I can recall, Skylines do not have Sony Speakers from the factory. Easiest way to check - do they look like stock items - mine were greyish paper with twin paper cones.

ALL OF THEM:D:D:D.....well most:D:D

never trust an odo on an import

NOT MINE :D

the guy who got my car from japan is very very fussy and he said he made sure it wasn't wound back! (im sure he did, he held up my finances checking all the paperwork) so my 1997 car has more k's than heaps of 94 skylines but u have to wonder if they really are legit being nealy 10 years old with 44000km. i mean no one buys a sports car to drive it only 4400km a year... common sense

true dat!!...i got mine 3 yrs ago from a private importer and it had 64ks on it for a 95 which sounds about rite. back then imports were commin in with 40ks on the clock at dealers. havent u noticed that most skylines that come in are around the 60-65k mark at the dealers....hrrrmmmm:D:D:D
