Hello fellow SAUers

Just that i am really keen on F1 stuff. So i thought to have a thread and do all the discussions on this particualar thread throughout the F1 season. So who is really following F1 and which teams/drivers do you follow. I for 1 am a big big fan of Ferrari F1 team. I also follow both drivers from the Ferrari F1 team. So for me i hope that the Ferrari boys can beat the McLaren boys and have a good season in the F1 ring.

PS mods could you please sticky this thread....its car related stuff

heard this year the rules are now going by the most wins wins the championship not points system anymore, points system will only be used if drivers have won the same amount of racers. people are shitty about that change for sure

this is purely for the SA users Damo....remember we are a big happy family after all mate

Ohh yes the rules and pretty much everything has been changed for this season

each driver still gets points for the race positions but if for eg you have Hamilton on 100 points and Massa on 90 points with more wins then Hamilton then IMHO he deserves the win.....

but in saying that i also believe that consistency must be rewarded and this rule sort of leaves that aside

all in all this makes for a interesting season....GO FERRARI :)

Well Honda F1 are gone, atm i dunno where that leaves rubens and jensen

Lots of new rules, ruduction in Aero, rear wings width has been reduced, front wings are now allowed to be lower, much like they used to be, expect no more spoon wings

return to full slicks

umm

yehhhh haha. Team-wise.... Vettel to red-bull I think has happened thats all I can remember atm havent been following off season much

More rule changes coming in the next couple of years but, the sport is gonna get run into the ground there trying to take the speed away from it, the very thing that makes formula 1 what it is

yep go ferrari here to

Ohhhh mate that is awesome lol

imho Ferrari is the best team by far.....having 2 raging bulls behind the wheels and no one gets priority makes for perfect team racing lol

Ohh and FYI damo Honda team resolved and those drivers are now driving for Brawn GP....guessing the owner is Ross Brawn ex Ferrari team principal

I've always been a Williams fan... back when Mansell was driving for them, then damon hill, tho having said that my favourite driver is alain prost, even tho his best years were with McLaren

I'm hoping hamilton will win a second championship this year, but what I'd really like to see is Danica Patrick driving for team USA... chuck a girl in the mix and the shit becomes interesting again

-D

the thing about the most win = world champ, that got throwen out... (for this season at least)

looks like mclaren will struggle intially, reno's new car seems like a dud, RB's car isn;t built for webber so he'll struggle, BMW will probably crush most people for the start of this season with honda (brawn or whatevers) probably being a big supprise for this year!

my 2c

danica is hopeless, dosent even deserve a seat in indy...... just cause she has boobs and a vagina

anyways im interested in seeing how this year pans out, alot of shit went on behind the scenes last year and was great to see massa get pipped for the championship even though the powers that be tried so hard to give it to him :s

brawn gp is a force this year, setting the quickest times from any practice pre season

Forza Ferrari, I've been addicted to F1 since the first time I laid eyes on them here in Adelaide in 1985

The points system hasn't been altered yet, looks like happening next year. Will be interesting to see Brawn GP's pace this weekend and no doubt a massive row and protests over the rear diffusers.

Well, considering she's won a few races, I daresay she's a much better driver than you...

On the other hand, we could just get japanese drivers like Taki Inoue to f**k up the races like he used to back in the day.

Japanese... good drifters, and then make good cars, but they can't drive F1 for shit.

They change the rules, regulations, cars, tracks every year ... I can't be arsed keeping up with it anymore.

Bores the pants off me ... haven't been a fan of it for over a decade now. There is no more driver skill ... it all comes down to the electronics on the car. 80% car and 20% driver.

Is why I love MotoGP and Superbikes. 80% rider and 20% bike. :D

And someone get rid of that cock Webber. He's embarassing Australia!

(yes, I've met Mark Webber. He's quite up himself)

??

Traction control is gone, all teams are using a 'controlled' ECU where tc can't be hidden in software now. Launch control is also gone. As far as I know driver releases own clutch and determines revs via way of the old fashioned right foot.

I'm 99.9% sure that auto shift is gone too and they're back to semi auto where the driver has to at least shift up/down and they might have pre programmed gear selectors for certain corners like they had 3-4 years ago.

Aero regulations have been changed this year to make passing 'easier'.... a car following another closely will supposedly no longer have such an aero disadvantage because the car in front isn't going to be disturbing the air as much as before making their front/rear wings still work to a certain degree. Should allow for cars to follow each other more closely

Tyres are full slick again, but this is kind of pointless because they've been made narrower. Tyre surface area is probably the same as when they were using grooved tyres.

Introduction this year of KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System)

Totally agree about Webber, I'm really surprised he still has had a seat in F1 for this long already! He's a complete knob

I say take all the rubbish electronics off and give skills back to the drivers. If a fool like Mark Webber can get an F1 ride, then thats saying something.

I'm also sick of the commercialisation of the motorsport. I don't consider it a sport anymore ... more like a business. I loved the old 500cc days when riders (like Barry Sheene) were paid for wins and results ... not paid salaries regardless of the outcome or performance.

Even MotoGP is a bit too commercialised for my liking, but no where near as bad as F1. I love Superbikes ... still raw in its nature and very much entertaining to watch.

lol, I cant believe I'm going to say this (must be the weather or something).

What Roo just said, pretty much sums it up for me to.

I'm sure the nightmare will be over soon Pete :D

Have you seen an '09 F1 car? Like going back 15 years.....!

I hope so. It was interesting 15 years ago. Then the real drivers can step up to the podium.

just read a bit about KERS, seems an interesting concept, braking force is converted and stored as either mechanical or electrical energy, and can give out an extra 60kw boost for around 6-7 seconds.
