just read a bit about KERS, seems an interesting concept, braking force is converted and stored as either mechanical or electrical energy, and can give out an extra 60kw boost for around 6-7 seconds.

Should be good, most teams have got it sorted already too so should see it in use this weekend

Well, considering she's won a few races, I daresay she's a much better driver than you...

yup, cause i said i was better and all............. idiot.

anyways that KERS should provide for some interesting racing combined with the removal of other gadgets the drivers have had to rely on in the past. i really hope we see alot more competetive and interesting racing. some races last year put you to sleep.

+1 for motoGP though, religiously watch every race, simply the best form of motorsport on tv

why do your think barichelo and button and topping the lap times?? old school baby!! =)

I'm going to be surprised if that late winter testing form Brawn GP showed translates to the top of the time sheets on streets of Melbourne....

danica is hopeless, dosent even deserve a seat in indy...... just cause she has boobs and a vagina

anyways im interested in seeing how this year pans out, alot of shit went on behind the scenes last year and was great to see massa get pipped for the championship even though the powers that be tried so hard to give it to him :s

brawn gp is a force this year, setting the quickest times from any practice pre season

I am personally not a fan of Danica Patrick but i do say promote female drivers in the F1 ring....have a couple of then and then see how things pan out...

I would agree with Ruby and Pete about the Webber issue...IMHO i reackon that Will Power (think thats right) who was a rookie in the indy's last season should be flying the aussie flag in the F1 ring....Webber has also had a lot of run in with failures on his car.....guess driving a european V8 is different from driving a Aussie V8 :D

I disagree with you there luke....dont think that its the old school that is making then be up in the practise session...If i remember well last year RB and Toyota drivers were doing extremely well in the pre season practise....which when the season began they were no way near the form they showed in the practise lol

Agree with you there steve Ross Brawn is a very very intelligent man and he was the man who made Ferrari the dominant force during Schumy period...so his drivers really have a big advantage in case of the knowhow of getting to the top of the podium....but in saying that i do think that they will struggle towards the back end of the season once Ferrari and McLaren sort out little niggling issues

in defence of webber, the bloke has the worst luck in the world.

rarely has he got a bad finish due to "his driving", its generally car failure, car failure, car failure...... put him in a ferrari/mclaren and i garuntee you he would top 5 every race. i mean take a look at his qualifying, he is more than likely always in the top 10.

i think he is a bloody good racer, just has never been given a solid race car to compete at f1 level, and all the hate towards him, you realise he every year finishes mid pack at the end of the year? that aint THAAAAAttt bad is it to warrent the hate?

Thats my argument too

I'd like to see it more equal, to see how the physical status of the driver accounts for wins.... women would have better advantage in the weight stakes, and women can deal with g forces better than men (due to lower centrifual mass), but men can have more muscle in the body (arms in particular) which means a lot esp when you dont have power steering.... and its not like raching is just sitting in a seat, the body gets worked hard... so it'd be interesting to see how girls would cope in races....men vs women in stamina..

I think most people would love to see everything randomized, given that the last 10 years of f1 has been spitefully boring

TBH I'd like to see F1 races that last for a lot longer.... maybe 6 hours enduro races, but with driver switches ala GroupA... let teams swap drivers at will...esp given that they've made these new rules (which I really hope make f1 interesting since I havent watched it for a decade)..

This season is going to be very interesting. WOOT!

lol, i guess i suck at internet sarcasim!!! =P or else you guys dont think stuffs funny

everyone knows that the big guys dont show their hand during "winter" testing, but for barichelo and button, it would be so sweet see #1 on the test time sheets this year, as apposed to reading 1s slower than people like force india last year!! - hence why i initially said they could be a supprise...

IMO, i think this could be Kubica's year, well, if the german BMW actually want to get behind a polish driver etc..

still, cant wait for tomorrow!!!! soooo excited! like a kid on christmas eve... oh and the ban on in season testing HOPEFULY means that we'll see more friday action!! (then again, that'll also depends on tyre regs) still, it'll be the only time they get to test new bits out on their cars.

Remember Michael himself, Jean Todt and Rory Burn had something to do with this also :)

Drivers do sometimes break cars. Probably not always the case with Mark but yes he has had many many DNF's!

Drivers do sometimes break cars. Probably not always the case with Mark but yes he has had many many DNF's!

DNFs are also the driver's fault. Drivers are asked for feedback and ideas on how the car performs. Many times machines fail (any motor racing, including bikes) its from lack of feedback, or guesswork because the driver/rider cannot provide the feedback, and also because the wrong changes were made (ie a risk). A particular track may have a longer and faster straight, so "X" will ask his team for higher rpm for a pass opportunity in the race. This may then break the engine. Whereas "Y" driver asks for useable power out of corners as the top end is good enough. Just one example. Webber has been breaking cars, but its not the teams fault alone.

Webber is/was the number 1 driver for the team and the mechanics catered for him in the setup of the car. He lacks the ability imo to diagnose what both him and the car need to work together.

Bayliss in MotoGP was the same, but he was 2nd to Capirossi. Ducati never listen much to his requests and could not get the parts and setup he needed. Enter Stoner, and Stoner was listened to and changes made ... the same changes Bayliss wanted. Its funny then when Bayliss filled in for an injured number 2 rider for Ducati and won the race by a huge gap ... on a track he'd never been on before!!! If Ducati had listened to Baylis in the first place, Ducati would have been up on podiums long ago!

Back to Webber ... he has no real communication with the team in terms of car set up. This is both his and the team's fault. But mechanical failures is not entirely the fault of the team. Webber must wear his failures too.

unlike bikes, F1 & Indy is all telemetry when it comes to setting up a car, they can even tell you when to wipe the booger from your top lip at 300kph

True, but does the telemetry system tell you if the car was upset by the setup or minor driver error? If the driver makes a boo, but denies it (the Biaggi syndrome), then the team must assume its the car, and therefore tune the car to cover the driver's mistake ... not to perform better/faster.

BTW I haven't had any dramas with googers, but I've scratched a mad itch at 220kph on track :P

have you spoken to webber regarding this? have you spoken to head engineer about this??? im gonna run with NO, so essentially ur just offering your opinion right?

And his opinion on Webber is any less than your opinion on Danica Patrick and female drivers.

Thought not.

Pot, meet Kettle.
