but then again Mclaren have been on air pretty much every round apologising to everyone involved in F1 really

and apparently things have changed, Ron Denis resigned, so must have weighed up in the meeting

how awsome, they are making another senna film!!! woot!!! i was soooo dissapointed by the POS they released a few years ago, maily becuase i bought it for "career highlights from races" but it had NONE on there.... grrrrrr. mebe they might get it right this time and put a while heap of driving highlights on their for me to watch

also, i think the mclaren discision today was fair! they have already had a punishment by loosing their aus gp points and fired the resonsible party... they have to live with the damage done to their reputation that will come back to bit them on their ass when sponsorship gets renewed! and the fact that if they f**k up again they will get a huge penaltaly (this one and whatever they get for the next one) seems like it might keep them honest =P

i think i red somewhere that Santander Bank (spanish bank) were looking at changing sponsorship from Mclaren to Ferrari....so woot woot for Ferrari the more sponsors the better...also that Mclaren announced that by them quiting F1 wont save them any money as sponsorships that they have are for long term....so some good news there as well

EDIT: just read that Santander is moving their sponsor ship to Ferrari next yeah and also that Alonso might be coming across either next year or the year after

Completely agree with you Luke about the races being boring as f**k.....if your on pole...get a good start....have a reasonable fast car...keep out of trouble and drive hard then there you go....the race is yours i mean WTF is wrong with Bernie....wanker

i think this has all been done to get 2 or 3 more teams in for next season

agree 100%, i really really hope they change it

formula 1 got boring real quick in the late 1980's / early 1990's when they disallowed turbocharging

mid '80s the racing was always full-on

90s got boring and the past 9yrs of this century I cant recall a stand-out race.

F1 FTL :P

im supprised you ferrari guys aren't jumping up and down and rubbing peoples face's in it, the fact that for the first time this year you actually have a fast car!!! tho kimi got owned by their arrogance. sucks that webber muffed Q3, but still P5 and heavier than BrawnGPs, so hopefully massa vetil and webber for the podium tonight! =)

I was just sitting and waiting for you to say something Lukey boy  lol Ferrari have certainly put a lot of work in to get the car to where it is now....compared to the start of the season....Massa did really well but sucks to see Kimi having a what looked like a hydraulic failure.....but yeah now all you Ferrari Haters....we are back and better this time around lol....

Ferrari f**ked up the qualifying again last GP with this time Raikonen being stuck in the pits in Q3 and not making the cut...wtf is wrong with Ferrari....make the drivers do a bit more laps and actually try to get both cars in the top 10....the are fast enough now...sometimes they just love to frustrate the living daylight out of their fans

dayam! What a crash on the first corner, thought Webber was out when i first saw it.

Makes an interesting start to the race.

Yeah that crash was aweful after the first corner....Trulli got tagged and on the gravel means that he was just a passenger at that stage....so not really his fault as i saw it....i dont exactly remember who hit him though....both Toro Roso, 1 Force India, 1 Toyota out before the second corner....lucky not more cars were involved and wasnt really a high speed one either so the drivers didnt suffer any injuries

dunno, commentators made a good point, that when he went off he seemed to keep the boot in it to try and not lose too much time, i think if he had backed off and just rejoined abit slower he woud have been fine, but its racing, this stuff happens.

massa only held his spot because of KERS, vettel was massively faster but the track just happened to have a airstrip as a pit straight so he hit his little magic button and got ahead again.

edit** just to cover my ass from ferrari fans, vettel first lap (lap 65) free from massa's hot air set a 1.23, after running 1,25's or higher the whole night behind massa

stoked for webber, great to see him get 1 up on vettel. wat a f**kin pass by webber coming into turn one on alonso! and that crash was nuts, precious carbon fiber every where

Edited by rhys5169

if the rules allow you to have it then why not use it.....its Red Bull's demise not having KERS.....but ahh well

still massive improvement from Ferrari on the development side of things

im not saying there cheating i just think KERS in itself goes against everything F1 set out to do this year

1) supposed to encourage passing; in reality it is helping slower cars maintain there lead, used more as a anti passing device

2) ment to be cost cutting at this current time; yet the KERS system costs mega millions to impliment and set up to get working consistently.

just pissed me off that any car thats behind a KERS car has ZERO chance of making an overaking manuver stick, there stuck in hot dirty air, finally get a chance after driving the wheels off the car for 3 laps only to have the other racer hit the magic button.

but yeh thats just how i feel, if it had been webber being blocked i would be whinging like a lil kid right now lol.

anyone keeping up to date with this whole rule/changes fiasco? berny is a friggin idiot IMO, once again ferrari is threatening to pull out but this time i tend to agree with them!lol

lol @ ferrari epic fail!!!!!! hahahaha, kimi died and they somehow misscalculated massas fuel!!!!! oh wow... if i were you guys, i'd consider jumping ship!

also notice while ferrari have seemed to improved their 1 lap pace, their race pace sucks big time!! and i think i've worked it out.. kers is actually slowing them down!!! from what it looked like last race is that their rear tyres of both ferrari and mclaren take an absoloute beating from kers (either pumping in the extra power, or the weight distribution in the car) and it means there actual race pace is crap! also because they have kers its impossible for them to be overtaken and so were are going to see these epic gaps appearing in races infront of kers cars from now on! so i say get rid of it, only the bad teams are using it to make up places off the start line coz they can't qualify high enough!

PS. so glad RBR brang webber in a lap or 2 early and long fuled him FTW!!! if he wasent cought behind massa into the first corner i'd say RBR would have taken 1/2

Ferrari fanatics never jump ship luke....thats something you should know....even in the hard times....

Ferrari went wrong at a few places on the last gp.....specially when kimi was knocked out of Q1 i mean wtf are they thinking

  • 2 weeks later...

wow what a race on the weekend

sucks to see that Kimi had a poor start but happy that both Ferrari's finished strongly in the points...and didnt have anything blowing up this time.....was interesting to see way less carnage then usual on the Monaco circuit......Brawn cars are so well setup.....and its interesting to see how demanding that circuit is for the drivers and specially 75 odd laps of that place.....Webber finished strongly in 5th and good to see in front of Niko

all up it was a good race

and buckle up boys coz the prancing horse is back.....

P L E A S E ! ! ! ! ! One race and their back??? Moncao, the place where maximum downforce is employed and anyone can win the race???

I agree though the ferrari's do look better (have a soft spot for kimi but massa is a tool) but im guessing time will tell again, not sure if they can catch the brawn GP cars at all.....Has any team won the drivers and constructors titles first year out??????

2010 rule changes.....BAH! What a load of crock...Was watching some videos on youtube last night of the 80's turbo car era...mmmmmmmm

    • Oh, that's grim. Something bad has been happening there.
    • Put an endoscope down the hole and saw this. Not quite all around the bore but a good 60% at least. Chin to the chest and towards further disappointments I guess.
    • 2 does "sort of" applies, maybe......but looking at what parts would be needed for the swap to get engineered, registered, and insured, and basically that's everything under the car, the modifications the make it legal would be problematic and horrendously expensive, all for a street car that just cruises around and hits a few twisty roads on the weekends Also, from looking at the NSW rules and Regs, with all modifications that is required just to make the car safe and not twist itself to pieces, and then actually get registered for street use, may still be impossible nowadays As for 1, when you add in a fresh engine, fresh transmission, rear cradle and diff, tailshaft, suspension, brakes, cooling, and all the other fabrication required, your probably looking at up to $100k to do it right, all for a 20 year old MX5 that is over engineered and you would never be able to actually use the power it has on the street, much like your beastie, which I love, but you actually track that thing and can use all of its powers in anger, in a safe environment  Hell, the old Bogan Cruise Ship had more power than I could use on the street, and in hindsight, I went a bit silly on that thing, it didn't really need the 500hp it had for what I actually used the car for, it was fun, but basically unusable on the street if you value your licence  As for cams, yeah, I'll probably book it in for them to get installed and tuned soonish, like next month after MX5 Mania are back at work....... and yes, I've already sent a email to bin the turbo quote and quote instead to install cams and a new Fluidampr balancer that will suit the 2.5 better than the OEM 2.0 balancer that is swapped over for the 2.5 install, as the balancer needs to get pulled to time the cams it's a while your in there sort of thing I did think a bit about flex fuel for a laugh, but being na, and no where really around locally anymore to get E85, I've binned that idea, so no sweet sweet corn smells are set for the car I wish E85 was more of a standard fuel, it's better for the environment, better for tuning, plus that sweet sweet smell we all love As for fitting in the family, that's not needed, as everyone in the family already owns a car that can seat 5 humans comfortably enough, the MX5 is "my toy" As for buying a car that is already built, nah, I would rather pick and choose my parts, I enjoy the process, and in the big picture, the additional cost is well worth the enjoyment, and the occasional frustration, I get out of doing it, albeit with other people spinning the spanners, and me, just paying the invoice 🤣
    • Excuse me, but 2) does apply 1) Would also apply if you consider how much is spent in the alternatives. Also there's the option of 3), buy one pre-built that you can put your family in (it's me, it's my car)   That said, I went on a ~500km drive the other day. I didn't use anything more adventurous than 3rd/4th gear at about ~3000RPM and 50% throttle and I was going as fast as anyone has any sense doing on a public road, with enough grip to the point where I didn't want to go any faster. I was obviously under the limit of the current car etc etc. MX5 with 2.5 N/A to achieve the same speed would be more fun for any road scenario. Maybe consider cams. I wouldn't boost it. The use case is just not there and it won't actually make the car more enjoyable unless you really do plan on wringing gears from 1st to 3rd (at least) at 100% WOT on a public road to 150+kmh.
    • Great if: 1. You had all of the money for everything else that is required  2. Lived in a country where you could actually do this and drive it legally on the road Sadly, neither applies to me As for the turbo, I am having second thoughts, mainly for engineering/registration legality reasons and insurance  Not saying I've finished doing stupid things that I probably should do to the MX5, but boost, and V8 engine swaps isn't on the cards Strange, but true
