Probably have to wait a couple of months until the Japanese GP.... thats if it's live on OneHD of course. But I'd be interested too

Lol count me in when that happens.....i am pretty sure the Japanese one starts at like 4pm or something live

He had surgery and is a stable condition under observation in intensive care. Looks like he'll be OK, obviously won't take part in tonight's GP :P

FIA official would have to make sure both Brawn GP cars can't lose components before the GP tonight I'm guessing

2009 has seen me return as a F1 fan after a dozen yrs not being interested.

Go Go mark Webber for 2009 drivers champ - if he keeps getting podium finishes he will do it !

thinking of Massa - when objects come at you at 200kmph they are hard to dodge, the smaller the more impossible to see.

Ive almost hit a deer or two, at hi-hi speed on the bike - a brick sized object would be impossible to see and fatal.

god damn he's lucky to be alive tbh.

Yeah, did you see the damage his helmet copped? No doubt it saved his skin. Dude had multiple fractures, couldnt open his eye and was in an induced coma...

And it was a suspension bit, reminds me of Ayrton Sennas untimely demise...

Most test drivers are test drivers and not race drivers for a reason and even at 40 I'd put money on it that Schuey is still going to be faster than Gene and Badoer. It's not like MS hasn't driven an F1 car since his retirement in 2006, he has done a number of tests since and has the driven 09 (Ferrari F60) regulation car.

IMO he was the only logical choice to fill the seat until Massa is well enough to return. Massa who is a close friend of MS will also feel his drive is more secure.

If Kimi does go rally driving next year, it might be interesting to see whether Alonso gets the seat or the soon to be unemployed Kubica..... assuming Massa is going to be able to drive an F1 car again.

I read that this morning as well! Fantastic news!

I am not to sure how i feel about this....yeah Shumy is a LEGEND in his own rights and has achieved some amazing things but i feel really sorry/bad for the 2 test drivers off Ferrari....They havnt done anything wrong but drive well during the tests to help the team end up with a better car from where they were at the start of the season.....So this is kinda for them like a slap in the face for doing good work....

Dont get me wrong i am happy that Shumy is coming back to drive the prancing horse once again but i think its time that one of the test drivers was given a go on the starting grid....maybe rotate them around or something....

WOW Badoer will be taking the seat and not Schummacher.....apparently Schummy's neck injury is worse then first expected....should be good to see what Badoer can do in the Ferrari cockpit....he hasnt raced since 1999 when he was with Minardi......I would have thought that since Renault's season is over Alonso if he is coming to Ferrari next season might have been allowed to complete the rest of the season in the Ferrari car....Nelson Piquet is out and replaced by Romain Grosjean.....interesting move in sacking Piquet....thats the second driver not to have impacted in F1 after switching from Indy car series.....Sebastian Bourdais was the other driver and he was multiple series champion....maybe couldnt compete with the big boys....

Massa's seat is always going to be at Ferrari....he was a test driver when Schummy and Rubens were the main drivers and slowly he made is way in as Schummy retired....which was always going to be the switch bit like the deal with Collingwood footy club in regards to the coaching role....This weekend's Valencia GP will be a interesting one as very one is coming back from the break...

I'm hoping Schuey will be available by the time they go to Monza.

There's no way Flavio would allow Alonso to go to Ferrari in 09 even if he does indeed have a contract with Ferrari next year. Renault like every other team on the grid need as many constructors points as possible to maximize their income. Krishy I think you're getting Piquet jr and Sr mixed up..... Nelson Piquet Snr went to Indy after his F1 career ended, as far as I know Nelson Jr hasn't competed in Indy.

The list of Indy drivers that went to F1 and failed is quite long and includes the famous Andretti name amongst them

ah thats right NP Jr came from the GP2 series.....i think F1 and Indy are so far from each other in comparison....the cars might look similar but no way are they close.....i know that (fag son of rajab) Flavio wont let Alonso go....specially after he got him back from Mclaren...

I am crossing fingers to see schummy back again in the cockpit of the F1 this year

Haha... I don't like to even mention Indy in the same sentence as F1. It's amazing how many people (including motor sport fans) think F1 cars and Indy cars are somewhat similar!!!!

i was refering to the ones that dont actually follow motorsport.....

    • Oh, that's grim. Something bad has been happening there.
    • Put an endoscope down the hole and saw this. Not quite all around the bore but a good 60% at least. Chin to the chest and towards further disappointments I guess.
    • 2 does "sort of" applies, maybe......but looking at what parts would be needed for the swap to get engineered, registered, and insured, and basically that's everything under the car, the modifications the make it legal would be problematic and horrendously expensive, all for a street car that just cruises around and hits a few twisty roads on the weekends Also, from looking at the NSW rules and Regs, with all modifications that is required just to make the car safe and not twist itself to pieces, and then actually get registered for street use, may still be impossible nowadays As for 1, when you add in a fresh engine, fresh transmission, rear cradle and diff, tailshaft, suspension, brakes, cooling, and all the other fabrication required, your probably looking at up to $100k to do it right, all for a 20 year old MX5 that is over engineered and you would never be able to actually use the power it has on the street, much like your beastie, which I love, but you actually track that thing and can use all of its powers in anger, in a safe environment  Hell, the old Bogan Cruise Ship had more power than I could use on the street, and in hindsight, I went a bit silly on that thing, it didn't really need the 500hp it had for what I actually used the car for, it was fun, but basically unusable on the street if you value your licence  As for cams, yeah, I'll probably book it in for them to get installed and tuned soonish, like next month after MX5 Mania are back at work....... and yes, I've already sent a email to bin the turbo quote and quote instead to install cams and a new Fluidampr balancer that will suit the 2.5 better than the OEM 2.0 balancer that is swapped over for the 2.5 install, as the balancer needs to get pulled to time the cams it's a while your in there sort of thing I did think a bit about flex fuel for a laugh, but being na, and no where really around locally anymore to get E85, I've binned that idea, so no sweet sweet corn smells are set for the car I wish E85 was more of a standard fuel, it's better for the environment, better for tuning, plus that sweet sweet smell we all love As for fitting in the family, that's not needed, as everyone in the family already owns a car that can seat 5 humans comfortably enough, the MX5 is "my toy" As for buying a car that is already built, nah, I would rather pick and choose my parts, I enjoy the process, and in the big picture, the additional cost is well worth the enjoyment, and the occasional frustration, I get out of doing it, albeit with other people spinning the spanners, and me, just paying the invoice 🤣
    • Excuse me, but 2) does apply 1) Would also apply if you consider how much is spent in the alternatives. Also there's the option of 3), buy one pre-built that you can put your family in (it's me, it's my car)   That said, I went on a ~500km drive the other day. I didn't use anything more adventurous than 3rd/4th gear at about ~3000RPM and 50% throttle and I was going as fast as anyone has any sense doing on a public road, with enough grip to the point where I didn't want to go any faster. I was obviously under the limit of the current car etc etc. MX5 with 2.5 N/A to achieve the same speed would be more fun for any road scenario. Maybe consider cams. I wouldn't boost it. The use case is just not there and it won't actually make the car more enjoyable unless you really do plan on wringing gears from 1st to 3rd (at least) at 100% WOT on a public road to 150+kmh.
    • Great if: 1. You had all of the money for everything else that is required  2. Lived in a country where you could actually do this and drive it legally on the road Sadly, neither applies to me As for the turbo, I am having second thoughts, mainly for engineering/registration legality reasons and insurance  Not saying I've finished doing stupid things that I probably should do to the MX5, but boost, and V8 engine swaps isn't on the cards Strange, but true
