Im in the same boat mate, and i have looked around alot and can't seem to find 2" ones...... seems 2.5" is the more available one..... i want to v-band my external wastegate pipe, but was looking to have to increase it to 2.5" before it joins exhaust so i can get clamp to fit....

One 2" clamp id love to get would be if TIAL released there 2" in a kit.... they seem nice.

I guess you could order a spare set of tial ones , with just twice as many weld on flanges to make up a standalone v-band clamp.... im going to try that way for cost i think.

Was in the same boat for my gate tubes. I ended up ordering a set of Tial ones and Tial v-band clamp from GCG that suit the 44 mm gate. I then had to get the other side machined up by an engineering firm. That way I had a male and female v band.

Anyway here's how it looked before the final instal. My tuner - Glenn "Lumpy" Campbell with his masterpiece

....and the other side of the equation:

More V-bands

I did find some 2" ones out of the U.S Might just have to import a few i think.

I emailed a mob in the US this morning about getting 4x extra flanges and an extra clamp for 44mm TiAl gates so I can make my screamer/plumback hot swappable. Figured it would be easier using all the same size stuff that comes off the gate.. wasn't aware of the male/female thing though :P

Juggernaut, where did you get those flexes from? I need one for the plumback and a 3" one for the dump pipe.

Re the male/female bit - the Tial v-band flange has a recess in it - this lines up with the boss from the gate - so you have a positive positioning of the v-band flange to the gate and are not relying solely on the clamp to hold everything into position. So if you only buy the Tial flanges you will end up with two flanges with the recess. Thats why I then had 2 v-bands made up with the boss - you can see the raised inner 'male' boss in the pictures of the dump tubes. The other alternative I considered was to have a ring lathed up - the ring could sit in between the 'female' recesses of the Tial v-bands and lock the two flanges together and the whole assembly would be held together with the clamp.

I may have a couple of new Tial flanges (to suit the 44 mm gates left over) if anyone is interested - I would need to double check. You would need to get a couple of "male" flanges lathed up tho. Embleton Engineering in Perth did mine.

The flexes for the dump tubes I got from Genie Exhausts in Myaree in Perth. I didn't use one for the dump as I though the v-band off the turbo may allow for some sideways movement anyway - it hasn't cracked however I do use a brace across to the gearbox to support the lower part of the dump.

Very interesting, I think I could get away with 2x "female" flanges and 2x "male" flanges (one blanked). What was the rough price on lathing up the male flanges? would prefer to have the locator integral with the flange instead of having little bits that can be lost when swapping :P

Still need to order me another clamp for the front pipe end of the plumback. I can only find flanges for sale in Australia, no clamps :P

I bought the Tial V-bands flanges and Tial clamps from GCG. Ordered them one day - delivered to Perth the next.

From memory cost of lathing up two stainless flanges was approx $50 - $60.

Excellent, cheers for your help :P

P.S. if anyone is interested, I just found a website called bestmuffler.com, company appears to be in NSW and seem to have a lot of reasonably priced stuff such as flexes, bends and larger v-band clamps.

That clamp in the pic looks identical to the Fleetguard one I bought through Cummins for my front pipe at a cost of $22. If you've got a dealer nearby they could be worth looking into, I'm always surprised at how many bits and pieces I can get through there! I've not looked into buying flanges due to not needing any, but they are the expensive bit right? (I'm thinking that you could always get an engineer to knock some up for you easily enough though)

    • Hard to say what the extra connector is, it looks a bit like a coax type connector, so possibly a separate radio/GPS antenna, or even another camera input?  The V37 series (including the Q50), did go through a model refresh in 2020, since Australia didn't get any Q50s newer than 2019, we didn't get any of the refreshed models, so there could also be other unexpected problems to overcome to swap an older Q50 head unit into a new model V37. There probably aren't too many people around that have made these sorts of changes to a Q50/V37, so you might end up being the first if you do decide to go ahead. ACP is Apple Car Play and AA is Android Auto, they are roughly the same thing for the 2 major phone operating systems (Apple's iOS and Android), it allows you to connect your phone and access a number of your phone applications on your car system.  With Nav apps included, so you could use google maps/Waze or whatever your favourite navigation app is, instead of using the built in navi system.  I think this would be a better solution if it is only Navigation that you are looking as swapping the head unit for. GPS signals are the same around the globe as the GPS satellites continuously circle the globe, but it is the head unit that doesn't allow you to load Australian maps, or at least no-one had made an Australian map that will load up on the JDM head unit. Regarding the TV standards, I assume you are referring to the AV inputs?  I haven't ever tried to use them, Japan used a slightly modified version of the US NTSC system, and Australia uses PAL for composite video, that said, I wouldn't be surprised if a video input could work with either system.  That is mostly irrelevant here though, unless you plan to use those inputs for something?
