The Nurburgring opens for business again this weekend, with the world-famous Nordschleife available for public and tourist laps from Sunday March 15. A fortnight later the Ring's Grand Prix track joins it, with dedicated tourist sessions for the first time.

Just like the Nordschleife, it operates as a public toll road so German Highway Code applies and police are able to prosecute dangerous driving. Unlike the 13-mile Ring, though, it boasts long run-off areas and gravel traps to try and ensure mishaps don't end up expensively nestled in the Armco.

It costs 30 euros (just over £28) for 20 minutes around the 3.2-mile track, which has seven left-hand bends and ten right-handers. It will be open for 28 days during 2009, with more details available at the official Ring website.

Needs to be organised. My friends from the Celica club and Ford club in the UK go over twice a year. Easter is one of the busiest weekends there. Only a few hours driving from my parents place in the UK. 2010 sounds good with me.
