Why increase the braking capacity of a vehicle that is still being driven on the road? You haven't increased the mass that needs to be decelerated (rb20det is going to be less then a passenger's weight difference in mass from the rb30e), nor have you increased the velocity of which you are decelerating from (if you have, you are speeding, and you shouldn't be).

AND, if you are putting yourself into situations on public roads that require better braking capacity then standard. Hurry up and get it over with so that you don't continue to drive on the road.

$3k budget is optimistic, good luck, if you make it with results that haven't already been proven, please take the time to make a detailed post of how you achieved it.

Dsturbd, if you are so adamant about people upgrading brakes before motors.... why do you allow yourself to sell motors to people who haven't?

lol, get off your high horse.

why did you have a 228rwhp r32 then? you don't need 228rwhp to drive around on the street.

ps, go explain your 'theory' to an engineer, they will likely tell you to upgrade your brakes. (much like the ADR's mention if you increase engine size/power, you need to use the brakes that came on the car with that engine.)

bit ironic about the pot calling the kettle black, eh?

I made a 228rwhp skyline because i wanted to do it for the experience so that i can be a keyboard warrior in threads like these when people pipe up their internet opinions.

So by applying YOUR 'theory' in a literal sense, any performance modification to an engine must be coupled with performance modification to the decelerating system...

if you increase engine size/power, you need to use the brakes that came on the car with that engine

Watch out boys, if you don't upgrade the brakes after installing a POD filter, Mitchy will report your dangerous ass to the ADR body.

PS, Mitchy, why did you do fully sick hecktic burnouts in the car you only JUST bought, (on public roads to boot), then place it for sale after wards? Hmm, shall i find a nice .jpg for you aswell ?

i fail to see what i do after i buy a car, and when i choose to sell it has to do with upgrading engines and brakes, but go for your life champ, i wouldn't mind a good burnout picture. (obviously it has my number plates, etc in it to prove it was me, and on a public road like you claim?)

and hey.. its not my 'theory', its the ADRs, and i dont write them...

hey boys cmon settle it!!!!

This is my thread bout my car member not a bitch fight ova wots been done or not....

Neways mitchy i am talkin to an engineer (best mate) to start with cos thats who im gettin to install the engine as well as give me an engineering certificate after the install is done so that i can rego the car with the engine in it!

but neways ive had a look at the car and its in nice condition, the brakes are fine to start with and im just gona get them shaved to start with then work on them wen i move onto stage 2 of my mods which is like upping the boost and internals etc....

haha cheers char

yeh thursday ill be going to me mates place and ill actually get pics in the light! only thing is id love to keep the drift r rims that r on it but cant :bunny: bugga!!!

So thursday im pikin up stock steelies and puttin them on hahahaha hmmmm

neways it has a 3" straight through exhaust on it already so once engine is install i just have to set it up with a cat and ill be rite! Best mate says that it sounded hell beefy b4 the other rb20 came out, so cant wait to hear it meself hehehe

Yet you sell engine packages to people who haven't upgraded brakes...

So he's not allowed to sell an engine to someone, unless the buyer pinky swears to upgrade their brakes as well?

"Ohh Bart, please oh please will you sell me this engine. I promise to to bush my teeth, and clean my room and upgrade my brakes prior to driving on the roads! Please please please!!!"

Edited by SKY RYAN

hahahahahaha ur a bloody funny bugga ryan!

Cmon bois settle it ova pms not in my thread!

We all no, unless u no didly squot about cars, that brakes is one of the first things to upgrade while upgrading the engine!

    • I agree on doing some better than factory pistons, rods, and oil pump. For anyone using the vehicle on the road, I don't get why everyone wants big cams. The stock cam profile, with some more lift would be mint for road usage. Everyone going big cams and then wondering why it isn't as responsive in traffic, when they've shifted the torque curve upwards an additional 1000RPM. Make torque, at lower RPM. Sure it's not as cool as claiming "500KW" and revving it to 8,0000RPM, but that same torque 2,000RPM earlier... Then you don't need the extremely high end pistons and rods, and blah blah blah.
    • Personal experience. Those f**kers burn. And are actually a PITA to put out. Next time I walk down the back, I'll snap a photo of what the inside of the bonnet looks like when that thing ignites. PS, powder fire extinguishers are useless on that stuff too as it's fibrous and when it ignites, it starts to pull apart. And you end up just blowing powder through a sieve effectively.   Like the big thing is, if it's fire resistant, it's job is to stop what burning? The METAL above it? It's just to try keep heat off the bonnet paint work.
    • Oh man, sorry, $60.00000000... 😛
    • That's more or less what he meant. What it really means is that you do not have to go full crazy on the build. Don't need the best oil pump, expensive rods & pistons, big cams, etc. You can upgrade whatever you want instead of using stock level items, but you don't have to. Having said that - any time an RB is opened up, if anything is getting replaced, I think the opportunity should be taken to do all the sensible upgrades. Pistons, rods, pump, etc.
    • February update 🙂 We managed to get the very last 1/18th "Extra Scale" cars stock available from bookstores in Kyoto. These are actually the last ones and will not be restocked again! Hachette Collections Japan have not decided on a release date for these or other models in the series, so for the time being these are all there are available new.  These are showing up on Yahoo auctions at inflated prices already (especially the Celica and NSX) so get yours now at a very reasonable price before they disappear!
