So the 2.6 is actually over cammed for its capacity?

Steve that IS 390 rwkw (and on stock injectors). Lol first posts states rwhp.

I am in Canberra but the car was tuned at Insight Motorsport. The Superlap Tilton Evo was there while my car was getting tuned. Thing is a weapon (obviously) and beautifully put together.

Scott is tuning the car eh...good stuff. When were you there? I was in there Friday...did you see the Rotorbishi?

Scott, his Dad, and Greg are great. Very professional outfit. They were all sharp despite having pulled incredible hours to get the Evo ready. Scott told me today that they were on the Evo until 6am on Saturday too but you can tell they live for it.

I was there on Wednesday and Thursday.

Did see the Rotorbishi, amazing peice of engineering. Couldn't stop crawling over / under it .

Im sorry 390rwkw with r34 n1's amd stock injectors, something isn't adding up here

thats because its hp

so you saw the Rotorbishi...but did you hear it?

OK for the record;

The car runs 600cc nismo inj and produced 390 rwhp as per the first post and as Paul has indentified.

As for my statement ...'Steve that IS 390 rwkw (and on stock injectors). Lol...' please note the Lol as it clearly can't be the case.

Didn't hear it but saw the size of the frigging exhaust. Got to push the thing in and out of the workshop a couple of times, was fun with that set up, never had a flyweight car feel like 1700 kg before. Unfortunately that was the extent of its rotorvation.

so it only needed 3 rebuilds instead of 6

I'm still putting money on the turbos are getting to their efficiency...

The N1s are good on a stock RB26 at around 24PSi...

Now you're pushing 17PSi through...

So an absolute pressure of 31.7PSi...

Now add in the fact you're ingesting an extra 15% of that air, rather then it being a restriction...

So you're really pushing ~37PSi...

Take back off the 1 atmosphere...

You're pushing around 22/23PSi "comparison" wise...

But you have to think, at the same time, when you push 15% more air in, you're pushing MORE then 15% more air out... (Heat, expansion, yada yada yada) you're just pushing those poor turbos WAY past their efficiency range...

Get the maps out, and do the maths... Those turbos are out of their league!

A friend pushes his at 24PSi on a stock capacity 26... Makes 320AWKW... And it makes it up near 6500RPM...

You may "only" be making 300AWKW in yours... But you have to think, you're making it at a LOT lower RPM if you're running outta power at 6250... Which means, you're making more torque... So you're using more fuel, and air (Less restriction, same boost level, more air flow... :( ), at a lower RPM...

TURBOS ARE OUT OF EFFICIENCY... Logic says it...

i haven't tried to look at the maps yet.

the way i sse it is that boost pressure is broadly related to what speed the turbos are being turned at - whether it's an RB26 or RB30 sized pump moving the exhaust gas. so i think i should be able to get 23 or so psi out of them either way before seeing a big hike in inlet temps. the fact that the 30 will push 15% more air just means that it should get to the 23 psi level at lower engine rpm.

i don't expect / want them to make more than 430rwhp, but while not wishing to compare dynos i'm a fair bit shy of that with 370rwhp at 15psi, remembering that he didn't want to run it at 17 psi due to inlet temps. injectors are 660cc so i think they should cover my needs pretty well. the head has some minor porting.

there has got to be some inefficiency raising the air temps. i reinstalled the heat shields over the stock exh manifolds as the amount of heat rising onto the twin turbo pipe is fairly substantial. might be worthless but we'll see. i'll try and post a dyno chart and also temp data.

you will not be loosing power if the temps are below 50 degrees.... ulness you arnt running a intercooler????? 20 odd psi and 300kw is the norm.. so thats not bad power from 1.2bar..

asked for the inlet temp data but didn't get it. def running an intercooler. still drops off at 6250 ish though, would like to retain legs through the gears so cams are prob a must anyway.

scott is still adamant that it's cams.

lined up to check pressure drop and temps on a local dyno.

    • Hi soviet_merlin, We appreciate your concern regarding this possibly being some sort of PR/Political hype, I assure you that is not the case, I wish we could claim something like that, but in this case, we merely reached out for comment on the basis of the outrage we too felt, as those heavily in the automotive industry. Ps. the original source in the social media post is CarExpert not CarExplore.    Best, CE.
    • Made a bit of a discovery, but while I was cruising, I randomly decided to test to see if it worked and it showed up on my IC7. The entire time I tested it before, I never thought to turn the ignition on. I only tested it with head lights turned on but with the ignition off. Huge oversight on my end. I’m a dummy. I know.
    • G'day all, I have drilled and tapped the hole for the relocation of the timing belt tensioner. That was straight forward. I'm unsure if I need to also put another hole for the smaller stud that the spring behind the tensioner catches on (this is how it seems to work in its original spot). Or do you not use the spring behind it and just torque it down? Thanks in advance, I did a search but couldn't find anything related and it doesn't mention it in the rb30det sau guide.
    • Hi All,  just thought I would provide an update as I know smooth (Matt) was on this forum from 2003.    my brother Matthew passed away end of may 2024 at the age of 41 from liver failure. I am not sure how many of his original team krazy friends are still on here or active but thought it reasonable to let the forum know.    if you have any photos or pictures it would be great if you could share them.    it took me a while to work out he was active on here.    thanks so much
