Yeah, Thats why im looking to get a HKS2530. SkydneyKid thinks they are the bees knees and are a better alrounder than the 2540.

Funny you should mention that boostd, I've asked them on a few occasions what the specs were on my high flow and they said they didnt know and would have to ask Precision (the company they sent it off to to get done). I havent got an answer yet.

It makes 0.8bar at about 4k, under that it feels doughy

I mentioned the turbo you built (I read the thread about your turbo build) and they said it wasnt a good idea to go down that path. They would sell me a brand new HKS2430 or 2540 for $2500.

I'm currently wondering what to do.

That $2500 for a Bran new HKS turbo sounds a little strange. Bran new HKS turbo's are in the 4k range. Never have I seen anyone who can sell them for in the 2k range. I have seen second hand HKS turbo's from around 1500 right up to 3000.

So maybe he means its new to you but second hand.

You can get a GT30 500hp for $2300..

Then there's the external wastegate and on the list goes.

MRK25T, Damn mine makes full boost(1.2bar) by 4k, so a good hi-flow should spool-up quicker. I'd suggest getting it tuned somewhere else just to make sure it isn't the tune giving you the low power, other than that a new turbo looks to be on the cards:(

How much does it cost to upgrade your exhaust housing? My compressor is fairly beefy at .6, but the rear looks a little small. Not sure of the size but it's noticably smaller than the front.

JimX, Be careful when trying to mix and match turbo housings etc, as the results aren't always good. Best to get a compressor map made to see what the turbo will be like before you put it on. You can get really bad compressor surge if there not matched properly:(

I think I already have compressor surge :P I've been given this advice by someone who had a similar turbo to mine, but better matched:

t4/t3, to4 compressor with a h trim wheel, vl turbo .63 exhaust housing with a copy of a sierra t3 wheel.

I'll see how I go with what I have anyway, I might not have a bad turbo afterall but the PowerFC tune will determine what's wrong.

I got a Wolf 3D V4 but it isnt installed yet and by what you have said GTST-VSPEC I am over the moon, I looked at a power fc and the Wolf 3D has much better features (IMO with MAP, etc) and also laptop tuning.

Hi rb20 calais, I'm sorry but I can't see one area where the Wolf is better than a PFC. In a whole lot of areas it is deficient. The cold start, cold run, idle compensation (air con, power steer, electirical load etc ), closed loop cruise fuel economy, adjustable knock warning, injector load warning, adjustable acceleration enrichment for amount and decay at 5 load rpm's, adjustable water temperature correction, 40 boost versus rpm load points, etc etc

As for deleting AFM's, the truth is there is simply no better way to measure how much air is going into the engine. A MAP sensor merely measures pressure and extrapolates airflow from there, thus is nowhere near as accurate.

As for the lap top bit......... the truth is you use the lap top tuning ability very rarely, when you tune the car. But I use a Commander everyday, they are mounted in the cars permanently. Add up the cost of the digital gauges that you don't need 'cause you have a Commander.

Not that there is anything wrong with the Wolf, but it can never be as good as an ECU that is specifically designed for the car and that uses ALL the standard sensors.

FC-EDIT I think it is called made by some blokes over in NZ. PowerFC tuning from Laptop.

I don't think it supports the R32/R33 GTST's yet but its getting their.

It isn't that expensive either especially if you are a workshop.
