Mate your cars set up just keeps getting better and better, sounds like you've thought it out well, Hopefully we'll see more then just 2 Skylines in the HPI RWD 2400cc and over Street Drag Challenge soon :D it would be very nice to see 4 of us in there :P

Buster, There are a few cars in Perth already that would make the lists but they don't seem interested in sending there results in. If I get a decent time then I hope to make the list:D

Would you mind telling me what the other cars are and some details please, are they on the forum? I'm mainly interested in the 60ft, mph and ET as it amazes me what our cars are capable of with the RB25 and not 3L bot ends or RB26 transplants

We don't have that many really fast GTSTs that go to the drags here, high 11's low 12's is about the best of them on street tyres

Can't remember the figures off the top of my head, but I know Got Boost is taking his R32 GTS-t powered by an RB26 down, He's already run a few 12's on snow tyres on a crap track. He'll be taking his Nitto's down on the fully prepped track and hoping for a low 12 or high 11:D

Most of the RB25 powered cars are just starting to move into the 350rwhp area, so we should start to see some good times coming out soon:D I hope to be one of them:D

Oh why are you getting a 2 way diff, when drags only go one way?

Sydneykid, I may be way off line here hehehe but I wsa under the impression that a 2 way diff lets you put the power down better as its more like a locker diff and a 1.5 way fiff is better for track work where you go around corners

When I'm warming my tyres up sometimes one wheel stops spinning which makes me think the same thing is probably happening as i'm launching and changing gears, So surely with a 2 way diff this wont happen and it will help me with traction?

Nope Buster, a 2 way diff works the same (ie; locks) with power on as it does with power off (as in under brakes). A 1 way diff only locks up on power on, but free wheels on power off. A 1.5 way has around 50% the locking on power off as it does on power on.

So for a drag car we would only use a 1 way. For a rear wheel drive circuit race car we would use a 2 way (helps prevent the inside rear wheel locking up on corner turn in). We find a 1.5 way the best on a front wheel drive circuit race car as it allows a little slippage ender brakes accross the front wheels which assists the turn in.

OK guys; lets get this ECU debate started, last time I looked WOlf hadn't released the plug in 3DV4 for Skylines. I had heard it was out in beta release, but there were some in field problems. Hence it is not on the their web site. Let me check..........

Don't get me wrong I am not picking on them for not releasing it until it is perfect. But Power FC's are available.........

Sydneykid, We're not trying to pick on you here, just trying to highligh the facts. I've had the Wolf 3D ver 4 plug'n'play in my car now for many months, they are just releasing ones for GTR's in the next month or so. Steve-SST knows more as he does alot of development work.

The main reason I bought the diff was due to the fact that my current LSD open wheels under high power, therefore having the power going through two wheels with no slip should improve my 1/4mile time. My car is not a drag car, and I'm hoping to also do some circuit work and drift work in it, in which case a 2-way diff is an advantage:D

Your a lucky guy though getting a fully prepped track to race on, Hopefully soon with the new drag strip being opened in Sydney we'll get a fair go too and more then 3 runs a night/fortnight

Buster, you should come for a drive to QLD. Willowbank opens in 3 weeks with the new track (its been re-surfaced). At times you can get up to 6-10 runs on Wednesday night.

Yeah, I dont want to talk about it too much it was a costly night. On the way home went sideways through a roundabout cos I just didnt see it and locked up the brakes. Luckily it seems my wheels need an alignment (steering wheel vibrates when doing highway speeds), but I decided to put the 18" rims on the rear, so I spent $700 on rubber., as one of the 16" rim tyres was shredded when I hit the kerb... came out of it pretty lucky I guess, could have hit a pole or damaged the control arms or other suspension bits. Hence all my time slips are not on me as I removed them just incase (insurance). I didnt go through insurance in the end cos all I needed was a new tyre (oh my sideskirts stuffed, but they are only $100 each). Anyway, my quickest TS was 111mph, my quickest ET was 13.888, I kept dropping off on power between gears, I couldnt get any traction (combination of badly prepped track and street tyres) and my best 60' time was 2.6seconds (I think, trying to remember). I'm thinking I might have to buy some slicks and try those on a fully prepped track. I hate to say it but kwinana seems to be getting a bad reputation. Anyway a costly night... been pondering selling the car anyway, as if I hit a pole I might not be here today :)

Oh I have to add the car drives so much better on the street than the strip. And I'll post more details about my ET's when I have the slips handy. I found the best way to launch the car was drop the clutch at 3500rpm, although I didnt get a chance to run again and try 4000 or 4500rpm :)

5 or 6... from memory my 60' times werent improving a great deal, but I managed to wipe 1 second off my worst time, which was a 14.7... anyway, when I have all the time slips at hand, I'll post the full details of my best and worst runs. I found it interesting that I went a full second quicker yet much didnt appear to change on the timeslip.

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance 
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened. 
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
