Lsd Nosie?

Hey peeps,

New to forum and have a question on a R33 GTS-T i'm about to purchase.

The guy says it has a mechanical LSD and has a clunk noise when it engages and clunks when it disengages, is this normal?

yes...does it skip the inside wheel in low speed tight turns? i.e. car park

Yeah, its like when you slow down for a corner or roundabout it clunks, then as you accelerate through the corner it clunks again.

generally when they clunk when decreasing speed and braking its not that great (LSD). Same when accelerated, might need to be re-built or re-meshed by a diff specialist. OR it just could be the specific brand. but they all make a shitload of noise and some even have movement, whether 1way 1.5 2 way or even shim. Mate of mine, had dramas re-installing his diff centre and it now moves in the housing. So you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Sounds like a typical mech diff.
