5 stud - Skyline offset ,

Don't really care what they look like as long as they are in good nick, no scratches, balanced.

Sydney sellers - so I can look first.

Don't care what sort of tyres are on them, prefer none actually.

Not looking for super duper expensive ones.....

Cheers,

Your going to need 17's to get something wider than 225's.

I've already looked into it (for track wheels) and even 16x8" will only give you 225's at the most (for semi-slicks if thats what your after). To get a 235-255 your going to need -atleast- a 17"

Hi Ben,

You are assuming that I want these for track wheels - I am looking for track wheels also - but I would go 18" or 19" for that purpose. (prolly new ones though)

These are for drags - you can get Nitto Nitto NT555R 245/50/16 which would fit nicely I think.

Cheers,

IMO:

* 16's with 225's (regardless of the tyre) is good for nothing but driving to work and back each day.

* Drags, a 16" would be ideal with -atleast- 245's on the rear (so the above mentioned 16" deep dish wheels would be ideal if you can get the rubber). I enquired about this at Gordon Levin Tyres and he basically shook his head at me when it came to find tyres to suit a 16x7-8. I didn't think of Nitto's so i guess it'll work.

* Track, a 17x7" would be bare minimum with a 17x8" being ideal so that some nice fat 255's can fit.

Over the next 3mths i'll be looking for some new 18x8's for my daily driven wheel/tyres and then some 17x8's for my track tyres. I'll be using the 17x7's for drags or possibly just using my standard r33 16x6's depending on rubber at the time.

Lemme know how you go Brendan coz it'll be interesting to see what combination you end up with.

A little off topic, but i recently sold my 17'' wheels and got some 16s, the reason being with 235 rwkw and more in the planning normal tyres FM901 at the time would spin up whenever i planted it, the only thing worth having is a semi slick tyre, now in a 17'' wheel these are well over $300, the 225/50/16 is $230, and i can garantee that my car with these tyres will out handle any 17/18 wheel with normal road tyres, the bigger the wheel in my opinion the worse the car handles(18''+) , the tyres are so tiny that they have no room to flex which they need to do.

No, but a 16'' wheel with a better tyre than that on a 17 wheels will handle better as there is more grip avaliable. I was refering to 35 series tyres in bigger wheels when handling suffferes.

Slightly off topic but thought i'd post it anyhow, this is an email i sent to TAKwheels.com.au regarding tyres sizes etc.

Ben , Legally for road purposes a 225 tyre is maximum width on a 7 inch rim

accordimg to the australian tyre and wheel assimilation guide what you are

asking is for an 8.5 to 9 inch tyre to sqeeze its shoulders in to fit on a 7

inch rim this will negatively affect handling and steering the shoulders of a

tyre must sit square withh edges of rims as a minimum anyone who says

otherwise is misinformed also a 38 offset will narrow the wheel track of your

car by around 8 mm per side also negatively affecting handling on track street

is ok but track no way

Michael
