Why won't this work?

because atm it seems the main driving force behind this is egos, I mean look at this thread, how does this even come close to what is meant to represent people uniting within the car community?

our best chance was with cube's effort:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Eo...ub-t185465.html

unfortunately since he has left it seems everything’s gone to shit around here. I personally don't have any interest in the club if it’s going to be created in the fashion that has been shown here, even if it’s going to be badged at SAU-SA. Maybe take some notes from cube's effort, you may not like all the negative feedback/criticism in here, but it’s there for a reason.

I will say that this thread is not correctly respresenting what was discussed at the meeting. Some peole here are insinutating that Kellie and Ruby are being dictators or whatever, it is not the case. I hadn't met either of them before that night so I don't have a swayed opinion on it. If you come down to the BBQ on the 25th, you will see for yourself.

"The past is always with us."

I'm with this as well. last thing I want to see is a dictatorship but I think that kel and ruby do have the best interests at heart, in spite of miscommunication on this forum...

there are loads of things to go thru, naturally not everyone can make a meeting, but thats what meeting minutes are for... in my own interest, I have decided to watch how this all goes as an impartial arbiter.

Which is why I'm asking now to please come to the BBQ if you actually give a damn about getting SAUSA on the ground.

You might not be part of anyones fan club, and u might not agree with every other potential member, but at least give this a shot. I daresay that the Mallala BBQ only got crap numbers due to the remote location (Cmon its an hour for me and i'm 10 minutes north of adelaide, what about the dirty south?) and possibly a bad coinciding of events. In either case, to base interest upon appearance for one single event is really limiting your scope. Things don't get born big. They start small and grow according to interest and participation.

"If you go looking for trouble, you’re sure to find it."

If you want anyone to blame about the planning, you can blame me too. I was with kellie for the first few hours brainstorming. I put forward Rubys name as a potential treasurer and secretary because I know he's passionate about what he thinks. This is a strength. It might rub some of you the wrong way, and if you disagree, good! Tell us why! Lets not waste time here. While there is a skeletal steering comitee in place, votes will be taken and the right people will be found for the job. I hereby exclude myself from all positions - I would rather be an Arbitrator in this matter. We need to unite now, more than ever. With E85 going, the crackdown on undefined 'hooning' the proposition of car crushing, etc, we need to make a stand.

however its funny that many of you talking about votes to me on msn have no intention of paying for the club? Maybe we should put a $20 entry fee to buy one single share of the SAUSA club, entitling the member to one single vote. it might come to that, but in these early days I'd prefer to see people come down and buy an overpriced sausage at a BBQ.

if people arent willing to drive a out to a BBQ at an event which represent a lot of what the club is about, then they can hardly call themselves dedicated to the club. i dont wanna see a club which focuses only on cruises and autosalon displays, i sure as hell wont be paying membership just so i can go for a drive down anzacs and put my car next to other skylines at autosalon. so far all i see is a few people wanting to create a club for the sake of creating a club.

cams licencing will be a big priority

as will motorkhana/mallala skid pan/track days and dare I say AIR if/when it re-opens

would also be organizing defensive driver courses and more advanced ones for the cams holders. heslo threw up an idea about this up last year and there was a fair amount of interest, it just didnt follow thru at that time since it was nearing xmas. be patient. if you see "a few people wanting to create a club for the sake of creating a club" then tell us at the meeting what in your view would constitute a good club. Or even do it here if you have commitments, tho judging from your earlier statement I'll be looking forward to seeing you at the bbq

Hey, just thought I'd pop in and give my 2c since everyone else is.

Forgive me if I'm repeating things already mentioned, buy I don't really have the time or desire to read through all 300+ posts of sh... slinging.

Being involved with the birth of a new club before, I know what sort of effort needs to be put in, it's a huge amount.

For those of you who havn't been involved in the starting of a new club, here is what you can expect.

1. The idea - Self explanitiory

2. Interm Committee - A group of motivated people who do the ground work to get the club up and running. Generally they do a lot of brain storming, look into things like idemnity insurance, places to hold meatings, membership requirements, legality issues and the big part is the constitution. The constitution is a written document detailing the working of the club, things like how are comittee members elected, how should members behave, how often are there committee meetings, how will the meetings be conducted etc. etc.

3. Members - At this point the club is ready to start operating but needs members to get off the ground and can start conducting events etc. under the Interm Committee.

4. The Committee - After a period of time a the Interm Committee will hand over to the Committee propper. This may happen anytime, but a period of 3-6 months after memberships open would be the norm. The process of forming a committee should be done as outlined in the constitution, usually via a nomination and vote of all paid members.

Ok, that's a quick rundown of how most clubs start up, it is a monster undertaking for the people involved in step 2, but can also be very rewarding. These people often cop a bit of flack because from the outside not much seems to be going on, but trust me, it's a lot of work and lots of red tape.

If I have one piece of advice, things are so much easier if you can model your constitution off of an existing, well set up, one. And remember the idemnity insurance, a disclaimer isn't worth anything and accidents do happen.

If there is anything little that needs doing I don't mind helping out here and there, just PM me.

good luck finding a public officer

Public officer

An incorporated association must appoint a public officer. The public officer must be a person of or above the age of 18 years and be a resident of South Australia. Ideally the person will be closely associated with the association.

The public officer performs an important role within an incorporated association, acting as the central contact person for the association. Any notice or other document can be served on an incorporated association by serving it on its public officer. The public officer must sign most of the forms and returns lodged with the Office of Consumer and Business Affairs.

Failure to have a public officer is a breach of the Act and can mean penalties being levied against the association. In most cases, the public officer is a member of the association, however this is not a requirement. It is common for a public officer to have other responsibilities within the association, such as being a member of the committee of management.

tbh i havnt seen anything in this thread worth going out of my way to go to a BBQ for, the last effort interested me much more, hence i showed my support. i've expressed my views here, i dont think they need to be said again at a BBQ.

hate to sound negative, just trying to be real here.

Ben mate i had a whole 2 paragraphs to be said and showed them to Luke who said i was pretty much on the right track but post it at my will i refrained from posting because i dont want to be seen to put a wet blanket on the whole affair.

im pretty much with Stewy on this one from where SAU was coming to where it is now to where we for see it to be going i don't see myself joining SAU used to be cool now its not. << that's a period

are you willing to put in the time and effort required to be Public Officer you seem to be posting a lot in here telling people to hush now and wait and see and what not, what no time on your hands to organise paperwork.

IF this ends up becoming a reality is this club going to be CAMS affiliated? I also am not interested in reading through 16 pages of crap.

that is the only way you will have me showing interest.

Otherwise im paying for something i get here right now.

I've said before I'm not putting my hand up for anything except trying to get it started. I'm not telling you to hush but the last 3 posts you made had absolutely nothing constructive.. i personally would prefer you to paste your two paragraphs, so we can address it instead of hiding behind 'what ifs'

luke, I do plan on pushing an agenda for the track warriors at the bbq, such as getting the cams licence (as i posted above)... and driving courses - group buys if you will at the least.

my work prevents me from having anything approaching a regular schedule but I can't commit - thankfully there are others who have stepped up to the plate. I already have an idea to nominate someone as Public Officer.

One thing that disturbs me....if you guys are saying that you would have supported the previous endeavour, then why not now? Have you got something against the interim comittee, or is it genuine pessimism ? If neither, then what? What is so different? You guys are expecting us to be saying what is and isn't going to happen - thats entirely what the BBQ is about. To exchange ideas and see what everyone wants out of it. Rome wasn't built in a day, and its entirely unreasonable for you all to expect that any one of us trying to get this going has any definitive answer about what is and isnt going to happen - it all depends on you, and if you think its worth a damn.

And for those who think that SAU is going downhill, or is any worse now than what it has ever been - I strongly disagree. Note that.
