Ok well im not on the pc any more so yeah

you say sau hasn't gone down hill when was the last dinner organised from one of the persons trying to set this club up? What about one of those member going awol for like 8 months to come back and say lets start a club

what about one of those member making other members feel unwelcome at events and other things im not the only one to have there feeling just the only one apart from Stewy to post my feelings

so who do you see will go and talk to traders to get group buys happening because i wont do it anymore not that i foresee really the organiser of this club only ever organised car park cruises which quickly became known for standing in car parks chatting which all fell apart when sapol was invited

even most of the people that have posted in this thread didn't come to the bbq salad and i organised.

thats enough from me

So in other words, you're letting your personal grievances affect your opinion about the viability of a club, composed of (hopefully) many other people? Thats really mature.... I also wasn't under the impression that organizing dinner is the benchmark for showing interest...

So again this comes down to personal bias... I seem to recall Luke(ENR34) being at the meeting last wed, he has organized quite a lot of stuff, including orders from japan. I can attest to that, having bought interior trims from his japanese source. And I doubt that it'll be just him involved.

even most of the people that have posted in this thread didn't come to the bbq salad and i organised.

So you're pissed off that people didn't come for your bbq and salad and that somehow means the club isn't going to get members?

O-kay.

One thing that disturbs me....if you guys are saying that you would have supported the previous endeavour, then why not now?

because its nothing like the previous effort, its really as simple as that. look at the 2 threads, worlds apart.

And for those who think that SAU is going downhill, or is any worse now than what it has ever been - I strongly disagree. Note that.

i guess it depends on ur perspective, but i think its pretty hard to deny the SA section has been an absolute mess lately.

lol, streeter charges like 10% commission, if he gave us any discount he'd be paying us to provide his service.

(1) personal grievance don't make me laugh half the people on here truth be told don't look towards Roo and Kellie as people they would want to join a club with (to me that police meeting was just another stunt to say look @ me)

(2).1 getting stuff from japan is hardly a group buy

.2 as Stewy pointed out there are others to get stuff from japan also

(3) mate if you knew me you would know i couldn't care less about the bbq it proved to me salad and cubes that SA really didnt need a club and i personally don't think much has changed

Stewy feels the same way i do people actually liked Cubes and the thread was about whats best for SAU this thread you dont get that feeling, its just i want a club and im going to start one whether you like it or not even if it only has 5 members

whether you become a club or not i will still wear my SAU shirt whether i join or not

fair points...

re: public officer, ive been helping to do the secretary work for my mum, and treasury work for my dad, for the FJ-FX 48-215 Car Club SA inc for 5 or so years.

have all the docs such as minutes, rules, legals etc. updating membership + posting Club Letter every few months, few runs per year with overnight stays arranged,

also do the balance sheet, etc. lots involved, meetings monthly. mum and dad love it as they are right into FJ's and FX's, but dont use PC so I do that side of it for them.

lots involved. good fun with rewards at the end, such as pride @ winning a cup at a show n shine at Pt Lincoln or something like that, if thats your thing, with a caravan park half booked out by club members.

the old birds and blokes with polished FJ's isnt my side, thats my old's but I help them with the pc running of the show, so I know the other side of running a club...... if you need a hand pm me.

it could potentially grow to be a large club, with the cams side of things, but the Officer side of things is a hard but fundamental role in the formation and on-going success of a club

Hey, just thought I'd pop in and give my 2c since everyone else is.

Forgive me if I'm repeating things already mentioned, buy I don't really have the time or desire to read through all 300+ posts of sh... slinging.

Being involved with the birth of a new club before, I know what sort of effort needs to be put in, it's a huge amount.

For those of you who havn't been involved in the starting of a new club, here is what you can expect.

1. The idea - Self explanitiory

2. Interm Committee - A group of motivated people who do the ground work to get the club up and running. Generally they do a lot of brain storming, look into things like idemnity insurance, places to hold meatings, membership requirements, legality issues and the big part is the constitution. The constitution is a written document detailing the working of the club, things like how are comittee members elected, how should members behave, how often are there committee meetings, how will the meetings be conducted etc. etc.

3. Members - At this point the club is ready to start operating but needs members to get off the ground and can start conducting events etc. under the Interm Committee.

4. The Committee - After a period of time a the Interm Committee will hand over to the Committee propper. This may happen anytime, but a period of 3-6 months after memberships open would be the norm. The process of forming a committee should be done as outlined in the constitution, usually via a nomination and vote of all paid members.

Ok, that's a quick rundown of how most clubs start up, it is a monster undertaking for the people involved in step 2, but can also be very rewarding. These people often cop a bit of flack because from the outside not much seems to be going on, but trust me, it's a lot of work and lots of red tape.

If I have one piece of advice, things are so much easier if you can model your constitution off of an existing, well set up, one. And remember the idemnity insurance, a disclaimer isn't worth anything and accidents do happen.

If there is anything little that needs doing I don't mind helping out here and there, just PM me.

Yeah this is pretty much how we have started working through some of it. Obviously we still have more to go through. We do have an interm committee, which constists of 6 people. We are meeting up this weekend, and I will let the others know you have been involved in such things before. Will also let them know about what you have been doing Tangles.

Cheers

I've been working on this over the weekend ... amongst other things, like enjoying Easter with my family.

I have pieced together a draft Constitution for the club. The structure of the club will be outlined in the draft constitution which will be made available to all attendees of the bbq for comment.

Please PM either Kellie or myself for the details of the bbq. Looking forward to seeing the enthusiasts there.

To answer a few quick questions (again): yes, the club will be licensed with CAMS. Yes, the club will be open to Skyline and Stagea enthusiasts. Want to know more, come to the bbq.

I will be in contact with persons I believe would be great for the Committee (subject to member votes) ... people who I hope would have the time. There are members/moderators I'd love to approach, but I am aware they have busy lives. Therefore we will made do with those who have the enthusiasm, skills, and time to assist.

:)

Thats great Brendan, and like i said to Ruby in a pm, at least we dont have to worry about historic rego too much yet either. But will be good to have someone there with an inside view of how a club is run.

so when is the bbq?

alot o us work weekends so its not just a matter of 'were not enthusiasts' if we dont come down.

Yeah thats cool man

Its not so much an expression of interest - thats what this forum is for as well, but its moreso to run thru a few of the logistics required...

Thanks for volunteering to come Brendan, no doubt your input will be invaluable :D

For those that can't make the BBQ, I'll take down minutes and email to anyone who is interested (or just post in this thread maybe)..

We can always have other meet ups - Villies this fri will be a good start, and anyone who is keen to provide their $0.02c is more than welcome.

Thanks

I am going to be in SA for the weekend..

Will I miss the BBQ??

BBQ is on Saturday the 25th, the day before the Sunday 26th All Jap Day at the Bay. So its next weekend.

If you're down this weekend, you can tag along to Vilis Friday night? Or arrange a specail catch up with you for Saturday?

:D

I see alot of dwelling on the past issues and situations of SAU SA in this thread..

If we all constantly dwell on what has happened you will never be able to move forward..

I fly in late Friday night..will see how I go with coming out saturday night..

Hi everyone the meeting was great last night we got alot done, thanx to Roo, Krishy, Luke, Dion and Lex

So to get things really going we have decided to have a Fund Raiser BBQ to fund costs of getting this club started!

We are all dead set on getting this off the ground and running, we have come up with great ideas about the club and for it obviously this is going to take a little bit of time to get it running but we cant do it unless we have the support of all of you. You have all been saying that you will want to join so come along to the BBQ and have a chat about our ideas that we have come up with.

All funds will be looked after by Ruby and will go to funding the club.

We are also having this BBQ to get to know people that are interested in joining the club and to just have a great day catching up with everyone, it will be a great for people to come along so we can all put faces to user names.
