I have a Swapped RB25 into a S14 and for some reason the engine has always wanted to run hot. Today I was having the hardest time getting it below 90c.

I have an upgraded radiator with dual puller fans and also no a/c condenser. I'm curious what you guys with upgraded turbos run at.

86 should be about normal.

What clutch fan are you using? or what fan system?

what thermostat? have you replaced it?

cheers

I have a new T-stat and run a Flex-a-lite 220 dual fan and koyo aluminun radiator setup. I bled the system today and inlet air temps were about 30c.

I'm curious, have you logged coolant temps during a run?

of course i have. i do lots of logging. it has got up to 102deg at a end of a run once. usually around 97 - 99deg depending on how big the burnout was and how hot the car was before the run.

I would check to make sure the fan is spinning the right way. any chance of testing a proper clutch fan? they work the best

How long did it take to return to normal temps?

No chance of running a clutch type as there's no space. The fans are good, I have one coming on at 70c and the other at 85c.

But seeing your numbers I'm no long concerned, thanks.

by the time i drive slowly back down to get my time slip it usually drops back down to about 97 94 deg. try some decent coolant and replace the thermostat with a nismo one. that will fix her

Waste of time setting the fans this way.

Both fans don't need to come on until the engine is over thermostatted temperature. You can get away with setting as high as 95.

You haven't raised the rear if the bonnet, have you?

Low 80's just daily driving, upper 80's/low 90's beating on it or running a/c for me here in sunny Okinawa.

same here in melbourne summer!

FMIC, cleaned and new top tank OEM rad, new OEM thermostat, new OEM water pump

Mine stays around 85-86C with just city driving + rear of the hood raised (temporarily, to fit the engine).

I have one puller 12" fan, and one pusher 12" fan + aluminum radiator. 1 set to come on around 83C and the other one is on a manual switch...for now.

When I get the car back from the shop I'll be hooking up a DiF unit.

I can say with about 95% certainty that ur problem is the thermo fans. In most cases they will not work properly to cool down ur car. If u research this, u will find many others have the same problem. Usually the problem lies with the shroud not working effectively to funnel the air in.

Standard clutch fans are the way to go, otherwise ppl have had some success with the Ford AU/BA themo setup (including the shroud).

I was considering getting thermos a while back but after doing some extensive research i decided not to. What i did find out though is that a transplant from the Ford Falcon thermos with the shroud has the best results.

Also from memory having them come in at different temp intervals doesn't achieve anything but again i suggest u research this and/or speak to a proffessional.

Hope this helps
