I own r33 myself, connering? i would say 32 is A BIT better but there are plenty of coil over out there and low springs and stuff....goodies that can transform your ride handling.

32 is better in handling than 33, what i'm talking about is in STANDARD FORM that is.

Best if you go out there and test drive a few and see for yourself, there is a conflic here between 32 and 33 so ....really hehehe HKS wouldn't build the WORLD FASTEST 4WD if r33 is so shit hehehe :D ( i'm saying this cos' i own an r33 ).

Don't get upset 32 owners , i'm only macking around :D . Veilside has a 1500 horsepower r32 that won the american OUTLAW import trophy i think. Also JP fastest street reg GTR.

By the way my car is for sale too :)

well... how does handling come into being the worlds fastest skyline? all u gotta do is go down a straight line, and when it comes to that R33's are good. But r32s in my opinion are much better daily drivers and street cars. For one they're more fuel economic, they're lighter, they're easier to drive with fewer mods.

I dunno i've driven plenty of R32's and R33's (mates cars etc) and an R34 GTR (thanks troy), and barring the latter I'd have to say I felt most comfy in an R32 (maybe cos I always drive one and I'm familiar with it). But it feels so much easier going around corners and controlling the tail end in an R32 than in an r33. I think that weight distribution (and cornering tilt) is better on an R32 than on the R33.

Hmm lol just noticed something everyone or the two or three ppls that have offered their cars up for sale are all 33's lol... what are you guys changing too and why don't you want your 33's nemore?

To buy houses... actually thats just me :D Mainly coz of the initital cost of the car.. I wanna get something around $13k mark and put the difference towards a property. If i wasn't, I'd be keeping the 33.

theyre all lying... they wanna get 32s and 34s... they are sick of their lackluster bland interior and awkward styling 33s :D:D

jk.

seriously dude test drive one of each... hell if ur in my neighbourhood we can go for a fang and u can test drive it on the stock yards in dande... clutch will take a bit of getting used to tho :) nothing like a button clutch :D

How about a R32 GTS-4 ? Godzilla's little brother.

Best thing to do is go to a dealers yard and use them to do your own side by side comparison on looks, sitting in, test drive, etc. Spin them a half-truth about having trouble deciding to buy either 32 or 33, just leave out the part that it won't be from them. heh heh.

That's what I did and then gave Geoff at Prestige Motorsports a call to track me down a spec2 R33. I like the fact that it is still under 6 years old and I prefer the looks over the R32.

Naturally if I had another 7 or 8 grand I would have gone for a R34. There is something tuff/evil about the R34 front end.

Main points have been previously raised. Make sure it is something you can handle and afford.

Maybe look at a NA model (R33GTS4 anyone?) until you have some insurance history if you are young. Full insurance may be a killer but not as bad as totalling or loosing your uninsured car.

all you guys are so negative towards other shaped skylines than your own!!! can't you appreciate that they are all absolutely stunning cars in every way, and absolutely SH^% over the local trash?? 32, 33 and 34 all have their positives and negatives in styling and performance, you just gotta figure out what you like most. I wish i was fortunate enough to own ANY skyline...

Importers are the way to go... you can get the car YOU want for a cheap price. I know I am gonna wait till i can late next year when (fingers crossed) 32s can be imported dirt cheap under the 15 year rule, as long as the frigging govt dont make anymore damn changes!!!

You should buy a car in japan before the end of this year to avoid the increase in price due to the increase in demand created by the 15 yo rule. And i would STRONGLY recommend using J-spec imports as they have the best contacts in japan with private sellers and auction houses. The 32 is a better option if you want a car that has modifications as cars less than 15 years of age must be completely standard, no mags no exhaust nothing!

supraboy, too late, they already did the car has to be exactly 15yrs old now as of the 1st of Oct 2003. Apparently it was a law made long time ago, but never enforced and they deemed it usefult to enforce it now. Hence why the whole industry was baffled about how they could pass a law without passing a bill thru senate etc.

Thanks guys from what you've given me i think i'm leaning more to the r32's especially after i've seen that pic of nark and two other black r32s lol

I guess i'll now just have to go test drive and make myself a couple of last decisions...

BTW as a last question... wat year is good to go for? and what is the newest yr you can get a 32 in?

last but not least how much would this yr model be selling for through an importer?

Thanks guys

Chris

firstly, i would happily drive a 32, but I actually did like the whaleness of the R33, and I much prefer the interior of the R33. One thing that pisses me off is the controls like lights, wipers etc... and then the rest of the dash has that ugly 80's bumpy shit plastic everywhere.

handling wise i wouldnt say they are much better. I found that my mates 32 (which had boost, fmic, teins, racing seats etc) was alot easier to keep sideways in the wet one day we did a mountain run. I put this down more to the lack of engine power and wider tires (both compared to my r33). In everyday driving i dont think you would notice any difference.

secondly, i would STRONGLY recommend shopping around before using someone like J-spec imports. Also, I think its a big claim to say they "have the BEST contacts in japan with private sellers and auction houses"

only reason I say this is becuase I know of 2 people that had troubles. Im sure it happens with every broker, but i wouldnt take Autotrust's advice like the gospel and would shop around the brokers if you do chose to go that way.

The 32's started in may '89 and carried through to '93 and prices range from $7,500 to about $12,000 if you can wait to may for 15yo, Or from $11,000 to about $16,000 for a grade 4 which is the minimum requirement under the SEVS scheme (dead stock cars). Drop Craig a line at [email protected] for a more detailed explanation. Enjoy your test drives!

yer, the 32 will save you money.. that is the only reason i'd go for a 32.. but there is nothing wrong with any skyline. Even the R31 are great car, and thats one of the reasons i wanted to get like a newer version of that, after owning one for 2 years.

and then the rest of the dash has that ugly 80's bumpy shit plastic everywhere.

Thats just the Series2 isn't it? series1 has the smooth stuff.

Dave- Don't get me wrong, I had troubles too, fact is that the problems were with Vic Roads and the compliance workshop and the compliance holder. And believe me or not, J-spec does have the greatest range of cars available to them and very strong relationships with buyers in Japan. I am very careful about what and who I endorse and advise anyone reading this or other forums to be careful about how they interperate the information they read. Respect :D

i went thru someone thats actually IN JAPAN... much better if u ask me than going thru someone that relies on OTHERS in japan...

chris if u wanna meet up some day and go for a spin just pm me... my cars not moded to the hilt so will give u an understanding of how a pretty much stock car will run and ride... except other 32s generally have 4 seats in them lol
