All R34s have 5 stud hubs.

not true r34 non turbo, apart from gtv are 4 stud

cant beleive no one said get a gtv, wack some coil overs in it set to a good performance height (not slammed), then when your off your p's get a gtt front cut and transfer the turbo engine in, problem solved :(

After owning/driving both I would choose the supra. I found the supra more comfortable to drive with only 2 people. If your even thinking of having 4 people in the car then get an R34. Supra is less practical than the R34 and for your price range most likely older aswell. But to me the looks interior/exterior and performance more than make up for these cons.

The R34 N/A isn't a bad car, it handles well and looks nice but IMO the supra is the better overall car.

ps. The 96.5+ supras have a much nicer looking dash, oh and whichever car you choose it must be manual :P

Ive driven both and actually own a series II 96 JZA80 SZ-R with the factory getrag 6 speed box (very rare). Only minor mods i.e Buddy Club Fully adjustable coilovers, cat 2.5in back zaust, BBS rims with 265s on the back and still breaks traction (factory LSD) w/ 3.75 gears? I think lol, plus the best part about the SZ-R is the box, for those who know about the v160 getrag they are awsome (same as TT variant). They are very comfortable, but handle like a gokart when you wind the stiffness right up. In wa they arent very common which is also nice. Interior is different on series I and II, only little stuff though. Best part if you ever go turbo and have the six speed SZ-R its an easy swap and you dont have to worry about have a much much much weaker W58 box behind it.

That all being said, the back seat is really cramped, almost no point in having it. With that in mind the supra is a real drivers car, perfect on both the track and on the street, great styling and not to mention fuel consumption is great on a full tank depending on how you drive it I get 550+ kms out of it, but you will want to drive it all the time, the interior really does seem like that of a fighter jet.

Im not being biased here, Im actually a big skyline fan and like them more than the Supras.

Mines up for sale, only because I want a drift car :P you wont fault these cars, the 2JZGE is an awsome motor. Mines going for 14,500. Much cheaper than a man n/a 34.

Well, I went and sat in both in the flesh today, and the guy took me out in both, and it's safe to say I'm sold...

On the Supra.

I must've looked at a really ratty Supra in the past, because this one's interior wasn't all that bad. I loved the look (exterior) and for an NA they have boatloads of torque. I was honestly impressed.

Backseats still suck, but to be honest the 34 isn't much better, and I highly doubt I'll have more than 2 (occasionally 3) people in the car, and the third can sit behind the passenger.

Is it still cool for me to wear an SAU badge, or do I have to go find another forum now?

All R34s from the pov pack 2L to the GT-R have 5 studs... I got the official Japanese brochure.

If you are going to do anything to it or would like any information check out the Supra forums, they are a great club, much like SAU.

Was going to say, Supra interior and exterior isnt that bad, if i could have i would have gone a N/A Supra over my R33, but price was to different for me.

toyota and nissan both make fantastic cars, i enjoy driving my GTR and the supra for different reasons, they're both great in different ways, different feel, different power delivery, different handling... but both great

so yeah im sure you will enjoy whatever way you go. the supra was designed to be the lightest, fastest and best handling car in toyota's arsenal ever... and im sure none of you need convincing of the skyline goodness

and then, stick a 1UZ V8 in the supra... check out v-eight.com. 307rwkW @ 9300rpm sounds great :D

Heh, I'm not a show off, and I honestly don't care about performance in an NA (so long as it has some zip).

The most I'll do is a squirt here or there to reach the speed limit.

    • Oh wow, it's easy to forget how cheap these can be. Probably the cheapest way to travel. Though people in cars here tend to be morons and I would not feel very safe. Were scooters ever big in Australia? It used to be the thing growing up in Europe ~20 years ago. 50/70/125ccm Peugeot or Yamaha and some others. Utterly obnoxious Polini race exhausts. Kick stands that slant as much as possible. So loud. So much noise for really not moving very fast at all. But it felt cool at the time. Not sure where I'm going with this, but there is an aftermarket for mopeds! Though I'd have pictured you more for a Goldwing kind of guy after growing out of the Harley.

    • Nah. H2S. H2S is "rotten egg gas", which is what is associated with no cat. SO2 is equally nasty, and if you've ever smelt it you'll know all about it. More of a choking, acid in the back of the throat sort of thing. But you can only smell it in a narrow range up to about 1ppm. Above that, it irritates your mucous membranes, but you don't smell it.
