when i did mine we took the subframe to Noltec, they burned out the bushes as trying to pull out the old ones is a pain.

You use a blow torch and do it in an open area and try not to breath in the fumes.

Then got made up new ones as they did not have the kits for my car yet and put them in,

Matt

i did mine over the weekend.

mine came out of a 32 so they where old and the alloy casing expands overtime welding the bastards in.

took about 15mins on a couple each side then an hour each on the other wich have a dual case.

i cut the centres out with a hole saw, heated them up and then hit the casing with the air hammer and eventually got them out with minimal damage.

trying so hard not to damage the frame itself with a air hammer is hard. unfortunately i couldn't fit it in the press.

if i was to do it all again, i'd just man up and give it to a shop with a press, i have a spare so i might do that.

anyone know what happens if you put bushings back in the damaged case?

cheers,

D

the other bushings on the back i lit it with the torch and made it burn out as said earlier. but what i did afterwards was to get a hacksaw take out the blade push it through the hole and the attach it back together and cut the metal part and it just falls out.

i know the subframe arent much different so i just wanted some heads up its not hard just the technique

    • Hey all, I did a voltage test with the car (video attached) not running for 3 days. And here is some interesting stuff: - Battery voltage is 12v (I had the key in the ON position) - Drops to 9.76v while cranking then quickly goes up to 14.5v - You will notice there was a sorta slow start but not as slow as it usually is. - Idle surprisingly was better at just over 1,000rpm instead of 1,100 rpm. - I turned on the A/C, radio and headlights in the video and the voltage remains the same - I haven't cleaned the grounding wires on the chassis yet, that's next. - Battery drops to 12.6v when I turn off the car and wait a bit Seems like I might have a parasitic draw? I do have an immobiliser system which does drain the battery more of course but was wondering if there is anything else I should be looking at fixing? Does the ground wires on the chassis have anything to do with the low 12v?
    • My lord that is some low oil pressure as minimum in the manual! I guess the big part will be seeing how it changes as the engine gets more spirited use.
    • Turbotapin   so I am about to be mounting mine up been waiting for the body to get finish at paint. I had a question. I was told our Speedo sensor it originally in the transmission but the cd009 is in the diff on the z. How did you get around this?
    • I definitely do recommend having a fab/grinding/dirty shed or area to keep all that grinding dust out of your main shed.  But you're right, it doesn't matter how much room you have you still end up filling it! I might even do a short video which will make it easier to fully take in the horrors of what I've created...
