Hey guys.

Unfortunately I got stickered on friday night on a cruise.

Highway patrol pulled me over cos one of my projectors was not working.

He then proceeded to look at the car. He asked me pop the bonnet. Then checked a few things, then asked me to start the car. He then opened my door and reved the engine 3 times. Making the atmo GTR bov make some noise.

I got done for bald rear tyres (inside camber wear), no permit for my two A-pillar guages, Bov, headlight.

So I am wondering what are cops allowed to do. Can they ask me to open my bonnet, or start my car, or rev the engine.

Can I refuse, or can they get angry and do me for something else?

Which vehicle inspection place should I go to? How much does it cost? Any other advice?

Sorry guys, first time with this.

Cheers

Berny

i would also like to know the legality behind them revving your engine.

I don't think i would of even started the car for them.

Probably get stickered either way, so probably wouldn't make much difference...

Yeh, I only the car for a couple of months. So never noticed projector was out, cos all the other lights work.

Yeh, my mate reckons you don't even need start the engine.

But they said I could also get a 150$ fine for headlight not working, so I didn't want to push it.

How much does an inspection cost? Which one should I book it into?

i think the inspection cost has rised upto 80 dollars these days? and make sure there is no leak what so ever in the engine bay cause they are picky on that stuff and also make sure ur engine number is seen on the block cause they hell picked on me for that b4 ! lol also if u got coilies set them to the softest settings. hope that helps

Cheers

Not sure if there alloud to rev the vehicle, But hay, pritty sure there also not alloud to tell you that your parents dont love you anymore, But they still seem to do it!

My advice, DONT get vocal with them, it'll land you a nice spot at east perth lock up ( cries a little ) Not a nice place to be, trust me!

Anyways, Sorry to hear about the sticker. Trust me, you'll look back on this and laugh, I had like 3, or 4 stickers on my old sky, and i giggle like a little school girl everytime we brang it up! Bite the bullet, get things fixed, and curse and bitch about the cops at home, even make horrible little voodoo dolls!!! HAHAHA!

Go to either Gin Gin pits, or Midland, They passed my sky who knows how many times on its hole and with a cracked window and duck tape holding one of my intercoola pipes on!

Kels.

It will cost you $83.30 to have the inspection done on your R32. You can pre-pay and inspection over the phone by credit card by calling 13 11 56.

Welshpool & O'Connor inspection centre operate on 1st come 1st serve basis. 1st inspection 730am.

Warwick, East Perth, Midland and Kelmscott operate on a booking service. Phone number to book in is 1300 782 713.

Make sure the yellow sticker (defect notice) does not pass the "expiry date" the cops write on it. If it does pass the "expiry date" you will only be able to drive your R32 to the inspection centre, provided the registration on your R32 has not expired.

Handy having someone from the DPI on here for exact prices.

Yeah just clean up all the engine bay and that, make sure your not too low, make sure all your lights and that are working, make sure your tyres aren't bald and your immobiliser is working.

Thats about all. Just generally make sure its legal. If you still have all your stock parts laying around and they are in decent condition. Just swap them in when you go over, its easier.

Tyres & the light you will have to replace obviously. What bov do you have? Would have to disconnect it or take it off & block it if it's an atmo. You might need permits for the gauges if they are above the height of the steering wheel, block and vision or possibly in a head impact zone if you were to have an accident. I'm guessing you might because there is 2 but I've only got 1 in mine, don't need a permit & the engineers report on my car explains why.

They can ask you to open your bonnet & it's best to comply because pissing them off isn't going to get you anywhere. As for them revving the engine, they aren't allowed to be or look inside your car without a warrant or permission. I've had one cop do that to me when I already had a yellow & there was nothing else he could get me for, he was 2 seconds away from being told to get out & close the door before he just stopped looking & started talking shit. I would have made him get a warrant if he wanted to keep looking, because both of them were smart arses. Personally, if anyone is going to rev my engine, I am.

Making a booking for somewhere will be the easier thing to do, otherwise you're at Welshpool or O'Connor lining up & you could be there for hours. But do that asap because they could even be booked out for a week or 2 & I'd be suprised if you've got longer than that on the notice.

Ok, car now has legal tread all round. Head lights work properly, indicators are now orange and legal. Boost is stock.

Ride hieght is now legal. 100+mm everywhere. Crazy quiet 2.5" zorst is on. GTR BOV is now plumb back. Painted my HICAS lock bar black.

Tomoro a quick degrease and off to pits real early.

Car is rego'd with RB25

My expiry date is the 13th. Tomoro will be the 8th. Get in early. Good friday/monday .... oh noes

The gauges are on the a-pillar. I have two. Aparently danger to my face if I crash.

Any other advice

PS: will they pass a car with diff front and back rims. Do the tires have to be same brand, profile etc all round?

Edited by reNEGaDe88

It should pass with the different front/back rims as long as the tyres arent FAT or HUGE lol or anything like that....also as long as the rim doesnt stick out from the guard.

But yeah you should be ok :P

    • Howdy friends, So another weird one today, I was looking into replacing some broken clips holding the front grille for the R32 GTR (part number 01553-03831), and noticed the brackets which are supposed to hold the grille in place were also missing 😑. I do recall seeing this issue many years ago, but didn't fix it at the time. A quick look on eBay and I was able to find the genuine brackets, along with all the screws which suited the headlights (part numbers 26042-08U05,26092-08U05). Happy days!....  Once they arrived however there was an extra nut in the packaging which implied that there should also be a bolt or a stud, and sure enough, after a bit of searching I found this thread from 2013, and @Ants clearly shows a stud should be present. Reading around a bit more, it's possible the headlights on my car are the "povo pack" headlights as mentioned by @funkymonkey in this thread way back in 2008. This could explain why the studs are missing on my set of headlights. Looking at the headlight diagram I wasn't able to see a suitable part number for the stud itself. The headlight did indeed have a recess that looked like it would accept a stud, but interestingly no thread or anything obvious how the stud would be affixed to the headlight, I suspect it may have been glued in, press fit, or melted into the plastic at the factory. Another member may be able to clarify if they happen to have a genuine set of N1 headlamps. The only thing we have to work with within the recess is a keyway which likely is there to prevent the stud from rotating within the recess. In any case, back to 3D printing, I put together a model which acts like a pug with a friction fit inside this recess, making use of the keyway so it doesn't rotate while tightening a bolt. Printing in TPU will allow it to slightly swell making a nice snug fit without cracking the part. I've designed the adaptor it to accept an 20 mm M6 bolt (stainless with a cap head in my case), as opposed to the standard M5 stud and I made use of the standard galvanised split washer that came with the genuine brackets from Nissan. Once the bolt and screws were all in place, giving the bracket a gentle shake gave the classic "shaking the car" feeling, very solid, which gives me confidence this is going to be able to hold on much better than the janky solution which seems to have been here for the past decade or so. Overall I'm really pleased with how this turned out and maybe there are more people out there running these headlights without a centre stud at all! • Hey everyone, This is my first post apart of the introduction. I tried searching a bit on the forum but couldn't really get a straight answer. I got the car to my mechanic as I felt it being weak. It seems that it was missing on two cylinders due to the injectors. I had all my injectors clean and the car runs much better. The mechanic also confirmed my suspicions that the cat is clogged and needs to be tackled asap. The cat rattles a bit and the hot exhaust warning frequently lights up when driving after getting the injectors clean. In my introduction I was asked about what modification I might be interested in and mentioned a cat delete. From what I was told, this is not really beneficial on the RB20DE and there are more cons than pros.  Could perhaps anyone give some suggestions on what the best course of action would be since the current cat is toast and needs to be removed/replaced anyway? I can also sometimes smell a strong smell of fuel, but I'm not sure if this is related.
    • Hope the cans went down well at least
    • 255 can't go wrong with the price.
    • When I was replacing my pump due to being stranded in the wrong state, I went with the Deatschwerks 320lph kit. It is a direct plug in to the stock wires, harness, everything. It comes with a plug... but you can plug the OEM plug directly into this thing. https://justjap.com/products/deatschwerks-dw300-fuel-pump-nissan-s13-silvia-r32-r33-r34-skyline-c34-stagea?currency=AUD Downside: Won't actually flow that much on boost if you want to push it on E85, but it's comparable to the 040/255 etc. Little more actually.
