if ur not allowed turbo, i'd go a gts-4, that way less chance of you loosing the back of it in the wet lol

14999 is a decent price for gtt but depends on how it drives, what condition its in....

my series 2 r33 is in better condition than most 34 gtt's on the road. ive seen stock r34s on dyno get under 135rwkw, where as when my r33 gtst was stcok standard and on the same dyno on the same day i was hitting the just over 155rwkw with dyno to prove.

buying a skyline has nothing to do with what the odometer says or what the asking price for the car is..... first of all it depends on what model you prefer and what condition you want it in.

if you take turbo out of gtt (expensive to do, check out NA section of sau site) you will have stuff all power, your better off just avoiding the hassel from cops, mechanical workshops and risk of something else stuffing up and just getting a NA r33 or R34.

now im on my red p's and have 15000, ive seen that turbo skylines r cheaper, is it possible to take that stuff out and keep it for later, sell etc.

ive seen a 1998 nissan skyline r34 gt t for 14999, is that good?

just buy an na, then upgrade when your on your fulls.

thats my mates old gts 4, he sold it to some other guy whos obviously selling it again, i looked into buying this but its wayy overpriced. ended up buying my rwd gts and too the guy in it and he told me it was better than his gt4, i recommend a gts rwd or just keep looking round. my gts is for sale atm if your interestesd?

I recently purchased a 96 R33 GTS-t for well under 15k, in good condition with afew minor issues but i was on a buget. i did alot of research into the market and from what i seen 15k can get you a very nice R33 and you would not have to spend anymore but is this worth the hassle you will get from the POlice? i had my car two weeks and got done for "apparently creeping through a stop sign" $250 and 3 points latter. i can garantee, you get turbo, you loose licence. they will target you just because you have a Skyline.

one thing i will say, do your homework i looked for months to find a good car for my price, they are out there just look hard.

My scenario:

Could not wait a year to buy a turbo car. Purchased 33 series 2.

Was pulled over on a Monday morning at 9.30am for an "RBT" whilst away for the weekend and coming home... lol

Lost my license for 3 MONTHS !!

Note: the police man overtook 2 cars behind me on a two way traffic road to simply target me. Followed me for a good km as well.

You WILL get caught and it's NOT worth it.

Have you considered a Honda Integra Type R? (Not sure how much they are)

Nice cars, plenty of fun on P's and will hold value when selling to buy a skyline, on your full license.

So I was thinking...

sure, people can buy a cheap, fair condition R33 for say 9-10k with basic mods, such as exhaust and FMIC and maybe springs or shocks.

you might drive it for a while, think its ok, but then you'll get the urge to do the ECU, more boost, need a better ride - suspension. Also you may need to fix some panels.

you boost it up and stock turbo cries enough - fork out more money for a better turbo - your 9-10k faily crappy R33 has turned into a 15k minimum car, which would still need some TLC

Mine on the other hand, you get an R33 which is in very very good condition, has nothing to spend on suspension, nothing to spend on the body, nothing to spend on power, the only thing someone may want to spend money is the stereo....but...thats a different street....

The car has always been serviced by a top sydney workshop, no expence spared.

So for 13.6k - you are getting a, absolute bargain!!!!!

The car looks near standard from outside, which doesnt attract unwanted attention.

It has the power to run 12's at WSID and put down some good lap times if you decide to track it.

So, why do people buy these 9k shitters in the first place?

there are sooo many cars out there that you can get mate... its not worth it to buy a line a this stage.. a) you will get pulled over and raped.. atmo or turbo, b) you will not be happy with a n/a model... get one later when you can have your turbo.

here are some options that id go for..

1. AE86 or KE70 corolla.. you cant go wrong with an AE86... they are awesome.. the 4AGE engines scream all the way to 9000rpm... they are soo much fun and get respect no matter how much power it makes. the 4AGE will bolt into a ke70 just the same.. not as much street cred but eh.. much cheaper. both weigh under 1000kg and everythings smaller... meaning cheaper.

2. Honda... any honda.. drop in a b series engine, some good suspension and tyres and enjoy the scream

3. Cressida either shape.. much nicer car than an R31.. torquey DOHC 7MGE, bit better than SOHC RB30... with a good ride height and nice offset rims and they look fat... while your driving it, build up a 1JZ ready for your for licence.

4. N/A 300zx.. the VG30DE responds well to mods and isnt a bad car to drive... reliability getting to be an issue though

turbos arent the be all and end all... i love naturally aspirated cars.. especially the smaller engines. they are all about the theatrics and sheer fun of driving. older cars that are cheap for parts and simple on workings make a great platform to learn about them.. skylines have waaay to much technical shit to go wrong and you will, in a month or two, hate that you dont have a turbo.
