The murray mouth would be a good trip for a few cars to do.

but im talking of the otherside of the mouth coming from Salt creek.

2 1/2 hrs of bitto then 100 kays of sand driving to the mouth.

Pete you will have to take a few jerry's tho as your toyota might struggle in the sand, and chew thru the fuel.

yeah I'm keen to do something that's a bit of fun and challenging at the same time, without killing our trucks though.

Darren I've got 140 litre tank and it's diesel so shouldn't be too bad.....but sounds like a bit of a long trip (ie 2.5hrs + 100km of sand)......is the scenery good along the way?

if you have never been down the coorong then its a must do trip.

its around 200 kays to the salt creek road house, and for me being down south that includes crossing the ferry at wellington.

once you get to saltcreek top up with fuel, and then its about 20 kays of dirt rd till you get to tea tree crossing.

this is where you actually drive across the salt flat. this time of year its dry and smooth as.

once across that its up the dunes across the top and down onto the beach.you can then head left down to Beachport and the south east,

or turn right and head for the murray mouth at Goolwa. i personally have only been about 50 kays north of tea tree, as i was surf fishing

not exploring and we found a awesome gutter so stopped there. but most of my mates have all done the whole trip and they all enjoyed it.

i have 3 surf rods so catching a fish or two while were there is allways an option.

if you only wanted to do a over nighter head down in the morning spend the day making your way up the beach to the mouth. catch a fish or 3 and camp

up near the mouth and then the following day head back south.

attached is a pic of the scenery, also often see emus, kangaroos, deer and the like running around the dunes.

About a year ago my friends and I went 4 Wheel Driving through sand dunes near Port Lincoln. Was soooo much fun, except my head hit the roof a couple of times haha.

A week later the car tipped on its side but eveyone was fine, car was lifted back up but the doors were dented in and stiff.

Take note of the horizon.

theres plenty there if you know where and how,

every trip over summer, but one we caught at least one legal mully.

the one in the pic was bit above average but far from the biggest.

my mate that works for me landed a whopper weighing over 80 pounds, and 1.57metres long.

now thats a lot of fish fingers.

buming this back to the first page

Anyway, what about we decide on Saturday 15th to Sunday 16th August 2009.

It is only about 200 km (2.5 hr) drive from Adelaide, so the aim would be to arrive and set up camp before lunchtime Saturday then spend the rest of the daylight hours out 4wding. Saturday night BBQ and bonfire and then, for those interested in another round, we do the track again before heading home Sunday afternoon.

What do you all think? I will contact the owners at Loveday in the next few days to organise a camp spot that will fit us all. I will need to know numbers though (as in how many people, cars and whether you are bringing camper trailers, caravans or just swags - some caravans may have a few problems getting to some camp sites, that's all).

Let me know or send me a PM.

Should be a good weekend to all catch up.

Cheers,

Paul

Sounds good Matty....should know closer to the date.....hopefully not raining.

I'm guessing this is the place Loveday 4 X 4 Adventures

Saunders Gorge Sanctuary looks good to Dave and only 75km from Adelaide.

I ain't gonna stick my truck in no creek or mud bath though, lol!! :)

lol same, i cant go beyond the side steps without filling my speakers with water haha

that is the place though that you linked to

Matty, I noticed you're selling your roof rack.......obviously tried the Nissan Patrol forum, yeah......don't think you'll get too many bites here.

What lift kit are you going with.......ARB have a new setup with a new line of sports shocks which is the way I'll go I reckon.

yeah, got it listed in a few places. main reason for listing here is someone might know someone who could use it

lift kit, im getting Ironman 4x4 2" lift with Foam Cell shocks, progressive load rate springs and steering damper. The whole lot including fitting is costing me $1000 even. Checked on comparison prices thru Pedders and ARB, and i was looking at $1300 in parts before labour

This was taken a couple of years ago on 1 small section of Morgan when I had the Prado........getting down was one thing, getting back up was another!

About 75% of all vehicles there got down that section but less than 5% got back up and had to go around......I was in the group that went the long way around!

poor quality so watch it 'HQ'

The Suby wagon that made it back up had welded front and rear diffs and weighed nothing but was prone to regular break downs.

pete

the loveday weekend has been confirmed. U keen on coming? If so, need to know how many (ie just yourself, or the family) and if you'll need room for a camper trailer?

and josh, i can see you reading this too. U keen on it?

    • Hi everyone, just looking to see what's available in the GTR seat options, testing the waters on what's available. Wanting a driver's seat to replace my old school OG jap race seat, going to re-register the car so need a factory seat. Prices currently seem to go from $300 to $2k for a driver's seat. What's options are there, that's good condition and actually a realistic price? Located Brisbane. Thanks
    • Are these a plug and play setup, and do they need a tune, like a haltech ecu etc? Thanks
    • Nice work on the paint. Those 3 studs are long as.
    • Hi everyone, still chasing a bunch of this stuff. Thanks
    • Been over 2 months since I have done anything on the S15 and had a day off today so got stuck into mounting the radiator and intercooler. I ended up using factory bottom mounts as bolted in and I did order some gktech top brackets but didn't work with the PWR radiator so made up some with aluminium flat bar. Spent way to long on them but pretty happy how they are. Next job was the intercooler. Used some more aluminium flat bar and did the bottom mounts first. Top was easy as just one long piece and 2 90 degree coming off rad support and welded them on. The bumper support required some notching to let the outlets sit where I want so will add some reinforcement later to strengthen it. I have also bought ecu and waiting for it to arrive. Went with a Link g4x Xtreme but will be adding a ptmotorsport expander to add a few extra inputs over CAN. Went through a few different configurations on pclink to get what I want to allow future expansion for sensors and gearbox upgrades. Ordered gktech rear arms but looking at the hardrace lower control arms to have some extra adjustment too will see how the alignment looks after first setup. Got 2 more weeks of work before shut down and will have almost 4 weeks to work on this so planning on hopefully firing up mid January.   Also bought a 2015 brz with a heap of good gear, did noosa hill climb a month back. Owned it for 3 days changed alignment and sent it. Finished the weekend 2nd in class and only .3 off the 180sx best time last year. MCA Red coilovers, gktech rear lca, bolt on lock kit and tie rods, whiteline toe arms, cusco 1.5way diff and 4.5 ratio, endless brake pads, headers, exhaust, perrin intake and e85 tune. Electronic steering adjustment, nankang crs with koya wheels 17x9 +35. Have bought rear traction arm and relocation kit, extended studs and v3 tie rod kit. Planning on also getting flex tune as lucky to get 300km a tank with e85 and short ratio. Car is a heap of fun to drive and super easy to work on. AC in the line up at Noosa was mint in 35degree weather.
