Hey to start this off I have a '93 R33gtst and im about to replace all the speakers starting with the rear ones.

As you can see I was in desperate need of replacing the 100% blown set of crappy old speakers.

So iv taken the rear seats and parcel shelf out and just placed a set of spacers that I bought from JB to help fit the 6x9s in.

Next step was to place the trouble speaker onto the spacer to see if the spacer was enough to clear the battery but sadly it wasn't enough which is why I need help.

The easy way out would be to use 2 spacers on each side which makes the speaker clear the battery easy.

Or the smarter way I reckon would be to turn the battery long ways so it will sit beside the speaker when its sitting on just the one spacer.

Or is there any other way of doing this?

Any suggestions would be a great help thanx

i built a new parcel tray with 16mm MDF with an 2nd oval section around the 6X9, clears the bat no worries, plus ive started smoothing it off with fibreglass then cover with vinyl/leather when it's done!!!

just copy out the parcel tray onto the mdf and cut it out, putting angles around the edges to clear the window and seat!!

might take some photos later today and show you!

That sounds nice and id love to see some pix but im thinking if I tried its gonna turn out ugly. Im not that good with my hands. What I was thinking was to mount those spacers onto the metal and cut the shapes out of the old parcel shelf and fit that back over the top.

Grats on even getting the shelf out :)

I tried but failed.. so I had to flex it to get the old speakers out.. I didnt' want to do any fancy jazz, so I just put in 6.5 which screwed right back into the factory mounting plastic and flexed the board to get them back into the rear ;)

Hey I thought id show you how much room you can get by turning your battery sideways.

In this pic the battery is just sitting there I still have to wait to get the earth lead lengthened by about 10cm’s b4 I can connect it back up.

The speaker is still sitting on one of the above spacers.

yeah true, that is a fair bit of room, but i'm running 6X9's and have a much bigger battery than that!!!

so needed to lift it up alot, i'll get pics today and post em here, it still needs some work, but it's getting there!!

also made one of these for a lancer too worked ok too!!!

as with the parcel tray fooey, wasn't too hard for me, just bent it up un the middle after taking the back seats out, just slides out!!

SKYL9 i fink u'll need a new battery soon.. i fink i had a similar looking one and as soon as i hooked up some sound... battery kept on dying.. hence why some skylines got some big batteries...

also any of u just still got ur old stock speakers and no longer want them?
