Awsome, use mine every day for up to 200ks per day, no issues at all.

Just drove it from Perth to Busselton, did a sprint round in Busselton and drove it back, 450ks with a sprint round and all on less then one tank of fuel. car is making 387 rwhp

Its a pain in the but!!!!!

Sounds terminal! Hopefully most people have experiences more like the last response! That's waaay better mileage than I would've expected, fairly excellent really. I have lusted after these cars for years, and now have the means to purchase :D

What are they like to live with?

Well...it leaves the lid of the tooth paste up all the time, it puts empty juice containers back in the fridge and drinks.

Srsly, a well maintained and modified R32 GT-R is a weapon. It strikes fear in owners of lesser breeds, makes small children wave and chicks giggle when the boost is on. I'm lucky to be able to afford my R as a second car and that means I drive it for pleasure only, look after it and it will serve you well. Just make sure the by a good one. Cheap and reliable...you can only have one

However when I first got her, she never missed a beat, in fact I have never had an issue with the car.

There is of course the usual maintenance that needs to be done on a car or this age and the replacing of a few parts.

But like Keets mentioned above, a well modified 32 GTR will tear most thing up on the road

Mine's still a daily after 5 years. Put over 100,000k's on and only let me down a couple of times=gbox.

i have had mine a few months and i am very happy with it, not too bad on fuel and an all round great car, only had one part fail with old age (4wd pump) but thats to be expected with age!

Was it a major hassle getting that fixed? Expensive to replace?

Had mine for 6 years now and will never let it go.

Used it as a daily for a couple of years and eventually broke it. Got a full rebuild all forged inside new turbos cams and all the rest, over 400kW At the wheels.

Dont' use it as a daily any more but it is a lot of fun when I do take it for a spin. :P

Go the 32 it is the only GODZILLA, all the later models are pretenders. :yes:

every day use clocked around 60K kms in a year.

awsome to drive daily.. only problem is u cant carry alot of stuff :D

abit noisy if modded mine had just over 300kwatw and a triple plate (okay when u get used to it)

so it was fun to drive

Heart is winning over head, that's for sure! Head says get something more practical that I can throw the MTB in, like say, a Subie Legacy GT-B, but heart says "come on, you've wanted one of these for years!". It's definately going to be daily drive - but they WERE built to be driven...

^^^^ Nothing is ever a major hassle as there are so many around and such a strong knowledge base, but...

Look for service records from a recognised specialist.

Take it to someone with a proven track record with GT-Rs/RB26 and get it fully inspected.

Develop a good relationship with a recognised tuner...guidance is useful and trust is important

If you buy one you will be the subject of more unwanted attention...police, idiots occasionally.

If you modify it take your time and plan based on usage and finances

An already modified R can save you lots, if it's been looked after.

Research the forums...often. You are not the first guy to buy an R so most of the questions have been asked and answered

Always spend the extra few dollars to buy the right gear...redline oil over K-mart, Japanese or Oz over china knock offs. Especially on the parts that are stressed. There is always plenty of gear to buy in the FS section.

What goes wrong??? These aren't new cars. Check the clutch to see that it has meat, check that it has good oil...oil control can be an issue if raced, check 3rd gear synchro for the same reason. Check the timing belt has been done preferably before time, check that it's not re-birthed or encumbered. Suspension is relatively cheap to replace but a dud engine or g'box is more pricey.

If you buy an early 32R check for signs of higher than stock boost levels as the ceramic impellers fracture. Prolonged boosting at 13-14psi means your on borrowed time. Having said that there are plenty of second hand and new N1 etc turbos that can replace them...and when you do, it's time for spending money on dumps, front pipe, 3inch exhaust...may as well.

Finally, Remember not to be too superior when a Scoobie pulls up next to you at the lights. Be humble...your driving a GT-R :unsure:

Looking at purchasing from a dealer - 5 year warranty :unsure: I've heard some pretty bad things about 32 GTRs from owners and mechanics with most saying get the 33 GTR as the 32 was the test dummy and most issues have been ironed out in the 33. But, can you go wrong with a 5 year warranty?

Just wanted to know what sort of power i should be expecting with only minor mods, so i maintain the warranty.

I'm guessing something like an exhaust, dump pipes, fuel pump and an ECU. How many killa wasps will this get me?

Also guessing the standard clutch will go pretty soon if there is some decent power going through it.

Don't quote me on this but I think standard they pull about 160-170rwkw.

Standard clutch will likely slip with a mild power increase, but may depend on age/condition.

Standard dumps are fine with standard turbos. Go 3inch exhaust and make sure the cat is flowing properly.

Standard fuel pump will be plenty at this level. With an ECU and removal of the boost restrictor (in the vacuum line to the boost controller) you could be making around 230-250rwkw.

Also looking at a 32 R as a daily.

The 32R was designed to conquer Group A racing...which it did. It's not a taxi stuffed with a Vette engine. For me the early 32's are business. A bit lighter than the later 32s and more nimble and lighter than the 33's. The 34's are different again. It is the purest of the breed; of those the Nismo, Vspec, Vspec II and the N1 are the ones to look for.

There are a few of issues with the 32 that I can recall.

1. The upper control arms dont allow for enough camber. If your tracking it, it's an issue. It can be remedied with eccentric bushes, dog bones or 3 or 5 degree Cusco or Nismo items. It's not a problem if your mainly on the street

2. Hicas pfft. Locking bar in and rip the rest out to save yourself 15+Kg

3. ATTESA computer is a bit 1st gen.

From memory. 280whp stock, 330 with the zaust, dumps, front pipe, Power FC and boost. Check the dyno sticky in the induction section

Well Mr Keets, you sure know your factoids! I like that. So nice to read info based on actual facts, and or experience, instead of just conjured up opinions which you often get on these types of forums. I was recently looking at a car which the owner said was a 'Nismo' from the factory. How can you tell these apart from the cooking models? My plan is for sensible mods that will enhance the car, rather than the sometimes overdone approach - I want to blend in as much as possible, even though it's gonna be hard to do in such a car...!

Boss, If you had a Nismo or VspecII I would leave it alone as they are worth more stock than modified.

The Nismo edition isnt particularly special. You could option what you wanted. The one I know of in Oz is AC, bigger steel wheel turbos with the N1 body kit with ABS, Rear wiper (like the N1) delete. I've seen a Best Motoring video with a side by side with the standard version, the Nismo being a car length quicker on the 1/4 mile. Vspec is the one to go for, better brakes, steel wheel turbos, BBS wheels. Always check the Vin on Fast, there is a thread on here somewhere

    • Bit of an update to this one. Having some issues on the dyno that held us back (boost spiking) and I want to pass some info over you guys and see what you think is wrong with my setup. The current readout on this dyno is 462rwkw on a low reading dyno so keep in mind it is a real world 500rwkw setup on a hub dyno. Don't read into the power figure too much as a sign of the issue. The short and curly of it is: 2.8 Litre Racepace build RB25 NEO N/A Head with VCT (internally standard however ) Borgwarner EFR 8474  Turbosmart 50mm Straight Gate + Mac valve 6Boost Manifold 4" dump to full 4" exhaust (nil restrictions) Wastegate plumbed back in and all angles in the exhaust system are acceptable and not too sharp. GFB SV52 BOV in cooler piping  Turbosmart BOV in EFR Housing   The issue we are having is it comes onto full boost for example at 4000rpm and spikes to 24/25psi, before dropping down to 17psi before slowly rising back up to the target boost of 23psi. It was extremely uncontrollable and the tuner actually had to ramp in boost progrssively with each 1000rpm on each boost setting we selected to try and reduce the amount of spiking. Sometimes we would see a drop of 10psi from the peak at the beginning of the run, to the low, until it took the next 500-1000rpm to stabilise back up to the target boost. The tuner is pretty confident that the straight gate is just a poorly designed product and leaks too much boost upon cracking the gate open and theres no way to fix it other than going to a poppet valve. He's also confient theres no ignition breakdown or floating valves. The fueling is extremely stable as well. Turbo speed is somewhere around the 109,000rpm area. The spanner in the works for me is that prior to this Borgwarner and StraightGate, the car was tuned on -5 twins at a diferent tuner, and he also had issues controlling the boost with it spiking around the same rpm range, so to me this sounds like the same issue and it can't be anything on the turbo side as this was all changed and I think the behaviour is extremely similar, if not the same. We also removed the mac valve and did a run on wastegate pressure and it still spiked and had the same behaviour. My thoughts on possibilities are: Boost Leak VCT Cam Gear isn't reliably activating consistently - (On this however, we did a run with the VCT disabled and the boost still spiked) Turbosmart BOV is not handling the boost? However this seems unlikely to not be able to handle 20psi. I have a couple of logs that I can't make sense of if anybody knows how to read them and can obtain further logs of other parameters if they are not enough, happy to pay for anyones time. The dyno readout with the power figure is the most recent last week. The other picture is from two weeks prior to that where we couldn't break 400kw (we removed the cat), however the issue of the boost control persisted. @Lithium @Piggaz @burn4005 @GTSBoy @discopotato03 I've tagged those that were quite active in recent pages here, no disrespect to those that know turbos well but I missed tagging.     • I recently purchased a 2018 Infiniti Q60, which has an SD card navigation map. I can see my system has options for real time traffic updates etc, and am wondering if there is something I can purchase to get this working? I can see there are at least updated maps for USA and Canada, but nothing for Australia. Surely Infiniti took changing road systems and city expansions into account when they decided to use an inbuilt navigation over Android Auto/Apple Car Play, or are we doomed to drive on streets that don't exist in the navigation system if you drive to a new area?
    • Luckily I didn't put in etch primer as I just found out it's not compatible with my body filler lol. Also just need to sand the panel anywhere between 150-400 grit so I'm in the clear there. It does say to not apply to soft old paint, I assume that means paint that is flaking, peeling,etc
